[WoT] Public Test of 8.0. First Try
This week. :)
Rates, credits and stuff:
- all tanks won't be unlocked
- all accounts will be as of date when database replica was created (a few days ago)
- everyone gets 100 000 000 free exp, 100 000 000 credits and 20 000 gold
- x1 rates will be in place
Summary from the 7.5-8.0 patch notes (not all the points mentioned! full version is to come):
- the following maps have been adjusted for the new render and lighting effects (terrain, lighting, sky, and other): Himmelsdorf, Mines, Karelia, Lakeville, Sand River, Cliff, Fjords, Mountain Pass, Arctic Region, Westfield.
- all other maps only had lighting effects reworked.
- changed physics of vehicle movement. Now it's possible to jump from hills, sind in water, push enemy tanks, leap on rough terrain, drift, etc
- fixed bug with sudden turn of both tanks while continuously ramming each other
- fixed most of the known issues with tanks getting stuck in objects and terrain
- added new functionality allowing to add emblems/logos and text on your vehicle (predetermined sets)
- reworked camo system
Old camos sold at buying price
Each tank now has 3 camo types: summer, winder, and desert which are changed based on the map.
Each camo gives 5% camo bonus.
- fully reworked the design of tech trees in UI. Now it's horizontal and contains prems.
- Assault and Encounter battles are now selectable
- added new post-battle stats. Now they are way more detailed and displayed in hangar after the battle.
- new radial command menu added (press Z to activate)
- in after-death mode it's possible to select vehicle to spectate using CTRL+LMB on team list
- reworked special effects when driving through water
- reworked basic UI elements: buttons, windows, backgrounds, check boxes, etc
- improved UI of exp conversion: added filters, total sum of exp to convert.
- reworked rescaling of mini-map and its markers and symbols
- map ping is played only once per indication of a particular mini-map sector
- Added 12 new medals
Balancing:
- changed accuracy and penetration of all German 7.5cm L43, L48, L70 guns
- Pz IV: top turret changed, 7.5cm L/70 removed

- added "improved suspension" equipment for French and USA tanks
- added new "report player options", you can send up to 5 per day now- reworked rescaling of mini-map and its markers and symbols
- map ping is played only once per indication of a particular mini-map sector
- fixed the effect when gun goes up when swtiching from sniper to 3rd person view near buildings and big objects
- improved firing/shooting sounds. There are 11 categories based on caliber and muzzle brake factor (yes/no)
- added new sounds for tracks. There are 4 categories based on vehicle class. Sounds differ based on terrain and speed.
- added extra sounds when driving on wooden bridges, sand, and other
- added multiple new sounds for new physics: turning, drifting, ramming various parts of the vehicle etc
- improved sounds for "penetration", "ricochet", "detracking"
- other "sound" improvements
Balancing:
- changed accuracy and penetration of all German 7.5cm L43, L48, L70 guns
- Pz IV: top turret changed, 7.5cm L/70 removed
- T-54: new gun 100mm D-10T2S added
- Normalization of all AP and APCR shells reduced to 4-5 degrees.
- T-54: reserach cost via T-44 decreased from 160100 to 142000
- T-43: Increased armour of top turret.
- Tier 7 and 8 SPGs: substantially increased repair costs.
- Rebalanced multiple tanks. Full details will be available upon the final release of 8.0 update.

Mystery is Alive
Figure Me Out! contest promising total sum of 30.000 in-game gold finished on June 14th as scheduled and it took me quite a while to read about myself. Well… found out a lot of new stuff about my Mightiness and megalomania, and what a cool girl I am and who would be Overlord if I didn’t exist…

And as I promised, I am going to reveal my secret to you…
Actually, it is not me who is going to do that… It’s HypnotoadProductions (EU Server). It seems to me he knows me better than me, myself and I do… and this is real me:
You're the link between the community and the developers, with you being one of the devs. You're often seen as a scapegoat when something goes wrong, yet you're only doing your job. None the less people like you more than others developers, because you keep the community updated. One thing I think should be changed in your / WoT behaviour is the acceptance of constructive criticism.
Cheers, mate! You were really close! Yes, I am thescapegoat link… people hate like me (cool!) …and yes, this is all my job!
However, honestly, sometimes I reckon my life should go a way like this:
Who is Overlord? He's the most interesting man in the World [of Tanks].
He once destroyed a Maus... With a LOLTRACTOR.
He once scouted with a Lowe.
Even his enemies name him as their emergency contact.
He's not a wallet warrior, because the premium tanks can't afford HIM.
Your tank will track itself out of respect for him..
He uses the burning wreckage of his enemies to light his cigars.
The Mountain Pass wasn't created by a glacier, Overlord had to take a leak.
Even his beard got Steel Wall...TWICE.
He doesn't always ban people, but when he does, even their parent's kick them out.
TxSheepdog (US server), you must have recognized your work. Well, maybe in my next life when I reincarnate and become the real Overlord and not just [censored].
Finally, it was good to know you don’t believe I am a single person whereas I actually am (and not married BTW!).However some of your delusions were quite entertaining. And here goes my favourite one (piece of poetry!):
On forums he's most often found,
dispensing knowledge that will astound.
He posts so much that I now can tell,
He's not one man but a whole cartel !
It's true I say! Its an army of millions,
that write his responses, like good little minions.
And I've heard it whispered in deep darkened corners,
Of the big stick that he uses, to enforce all his orders.
There's ten thousand they say, steeped in programming code,
Two thousand blonde secretaries to lighten his load !
A team of top chefs prepare all his food,
which is served on gold platters by girls in the nude.
And now as I sit, my fear does increase.
For now I await his secret Police
For revealling this truth, I expect ban, not reward.
And when I disappear, Just blame Overlord !

Figure Me Out! [FINISHED]
If you are reading this here now, you must have known me for quite a while. Whether you like me or not, your visiting this blog implies that you are curious at least! Fancy telling everyone what you think about my (non-)humble person? Today you are officially granted an opportunity to express all your ideas and thoughts of me…
Why namely today? Well, that’s easy. Today is the anniversary of June 6th, 1944, known as D-Day, when Normandy Landings began. What connection has it got with me? Easy again… The name of the operation aimed at invading German-occupied Western Europe by Allied Forces was Overlord. And this is exactly where my name comes from. Sorry, wrong link (like this game, btw). Here you go.

Now when you have got some information on the operation itself, give it a shot to figure out who the person (people???) standing behind this name in WOT is (are???).
- If you bet Overlord is a collective image comprised by a group
of idiots, give your reasons and portray those who make it up.
- If you think Overlord is a real person you have some respect to (no one? crap!), give it a try to draw a psychological portrait of him.
- If you do believe Overlord is a real person but you feel like mocking at him (expect a lot of submissions here), feel free to do that and come up with a good psychological caricature of him.
Overlord, being either one person or a group, will decide what best pieces of writing are. The winners in all three categories will be awarded 10.000 gold and a signed picture of real Overlord (may be)! You have got a week till June 14th, 0:00 UTC to submit your ideas here in the comments. The criteria of choosing winners are simple… Overlord should like it!
- Stick to 100-150 words limit
- Put your in-game nickname and server you are playing on (so as I can easily locate and ban you)
