[WoT] Team Up!

The massive 0.8.9 update for World of Tanks has gone live for EU, NA, and Asia regions.

  • 7 vs 7 team battles (7/42 mode)
  • open top German TDs (how is Waffen E-100?)
  • first Japanese tank so far (Type 3 Chu-Nu Kai)
  • gift tank - T7 Combat Car (thanks for Golden Joystick)
  • NA-based Northwest map
  • multiple fixes and improvements

  1. The noticeable packet loss that was introduced in 0.8.8 (which btw cost me the entire patch worth of wasted premium account time as it was unplayable!) while less now is still noticeably there for me, and 2 of my friends who didn't have it before are now experiencing it themselves.
    Yes I have sent in pingplotter results etc showing clearly the fault is NOT on my end (your support even said even so, and said they forwarded it to the devs and closed the petition).

    Please implore them to spend more effort fixing this! Thank you.


    New map is fantastic, has almost instantly become one of my most liked open maps (favourite still Himmelsdorf).
    Not gotten too high up in the new TD's yet, and I guess I will remain one of the few who don't like the Marder(s).
    Will be testing 7vs7 this weekend, a rated system should be interesting.

  2. As a german tank fan since the beginning, I was expecting the second german TD line for a long time, but most of the line is so bad that I don't even bother to comment on them anymore. WG even nerfed the poor Marder II again to justify the shitty Marder 38t. What a let down.

  3. TD line looks like a waste of time, so i wont bother with it.

    I was in a tier 3 match today that had 20 T7!
    So seems people are checking it out. xD

    Didnt see the map till yet.

    Want to try the new 7/42 mode. Seems like a really cool thing in the competitive segment.
    Something for smaller clans, and groups in big clans that want to do more.
    And even random guys can try it, but i dont know if this is fun for them.

    When i read that correctly from Storm the Löwe was updated to historical status?
    Will try out if something changed.

    All in all a pretty decent patch.
    New tanks, new map on the content side, and 7/42 as booster.

    I am really looking forward to the loooooong awaited 0.9.0 patch, and i hope the new physics (tank on roof) will make it into the patch (not just graphic upgrade). Either way it seems we will soon know what the patch will bring.

      I hope IS-3 is still really good now as a standard 7/42 tank.

    3. Not sure of the exact plans. Looks like it will since there is enough time before major 0.9.

      7vs7? It's hm.. interesting. I believe it's a very nice addition for those who have mates to play with. Since I'm a 100% solo player, it's definitely less fun for me.

  5. Still lagging like a bitch ... and as long as that isnt fixed I give a shit about about 7vs7, new tanks + maps ... . What's so complicated about going back to 0.8.7 status "networking wise"???

  7. 7 vs 7 team battles (7/42 mode) - awsome, had fun playing it, even though it's really annoying for the t1s, since the most effective setup always contains 5 t8s
    open top German TDs (how is Waffen E-100?) - awsome, but i can't understand why you put the marder 38t on the same tier as the Hetzer which is a far superior design
    first Japanese tank so far (Type 3 Chu-Nu Kai) -don't care
    gift tank - T7 Combat Car (thanks for Golden Joystick) - absolutely useless, feels more like an insult than a gift
    NA-based Northwest map - nice, like it
    multiple fixes and improvements - haven't noticed yet but the lag (is that one of the improvements) is really annoying

  8. 7vs7 tean battles: The 42 point limit sux imo. This may work in an ESL, where u can expect awesome teamplay which gives t1´s a meaning. In 7vs7 public games, the t1´s rarely make a difference. All the randomly created teams dont even have a t1 in team, which probably shows that people have no fun in driving t1 in 7vs7. On the other hand, if 2 experienced and organized teams meet each other, u will need these t1s.

    Decreasing the point limit to 40 would be good in my eyes. This 7vs7 mod should be designed for public, not for ESL training.

  9. 7 vs 7 team battles (7/42 mode): Haven't tried it just yet, although I plan to at some time.
    open top German TDs (how is Waffen E-100?): I've only had one encounter with it, and killed it. I don't like the idea of another insanely high DPM tank destroyer in the game. Without any sort of caps on the numbers, balance is thrown all to hell at tier X. It's like pre 8.6 with artillery all over again.
    first Japanese tank so far (Type 3 Chu-Nu Kai): I got it yesterday. It's a decent medium albeit slow and with paper armor. It has a good gun though with high pen and some interesting ammo. It really sucks in Tier VII though due to the lack of preferred matchmaker..
    gift tank - T7 Combat Car (thanks for Golden Joystick): Haven't tried it although I hear it's very poor.
    NA-based Northwest map: Haven't been thrown on it yet.
    multiple fixes and improvements: Game does seem cleaner so far. Pretty smooth deployment all things considering.

    All in all, 8/10. I really am not happy with the direction that WG is heading with regards to Tier X tank destroyers. IMO, they really shouldn't have been added in the first place. The Tier IX TD's can still put out great DPM, and can perform well at Tier X. Maybe a slight buff would be needed, but the alpha damage is out of control now. NO tank should be able to one shot a tier X with regularity (183), or kill another Tier X in the space of 10 seconds (WTF E100).

  10. New map looks good, only saw it once but I think my Pattons and other hull downers will love it.

    New German TDs? Not that bothered, I'll get to them someday. Haven't seen the Waffle Traktor 100 yet, actually my new M48 Patton is dreading seeing one, but we'll see when it starts making regular appearances.

    Also not that interested in 7/42, having so much fun in randoms. Don't think the waiting around and limited tank selection will appeal to me (basically it's a Tier VIII autoloader or IS3 game, with occasional Tier VI / VII TD teams - meh). Might wait till the skill ratings settle and try it in a few months though.

    T7 is hilarious from an opponents point of view. Picked up a few Aces eating these things for breakfast, and so many Cool Headed / Steel Walls, my medal cupboard is full to bursting. Actually playing one is hit and miss, literally. You shoot constantly for what feels like 30 seconds, bounce 2/3rds of your shells and when the smoke clears the other T7 is on 41%. And you might as well shoot currant buns as these 22mm pen Browning shells when you're up against a Mini-Maus, T18 or M2 Light.

  11. I've been really looking forward to 7/42, probably the best thing they've done for the game, maybe ever.
    New Map - Got it once, wasn't enough to get a feel for it.
    Packet Loss - makes the game unplayable. I'm paying $5 a month for WTFast just so I can play this game.
    German TDs - I'm focusing on this line, got to get me a WTF E-100. I decided a long time ago to quit bitching about OP vehicles and just play them instaead.

  12. 7 vs 7 team battles (7/42 mode) = I made more credits in 1 hour then I did previously in about 2 hours with my Hummel. =) Lots and lots of fun with a team.

    open top German TDs (how is Waffen E-100?) = have not started on the line but plan to.

    gift tank - T7 Combat Car (thanks for Golden Joystick) = Sadly its lack of penn has made it a giver of Steel Wall, Top Gun, Cool-Headed and many others to the H35. I myself have had a PD of 1200 going up against the T7 CC. And my PD was low. I know people who had a PD of 3.5k in the H35.

    ALSO on the T7 CC wikipedia says the top speed was 56kph. Is the in game top speed really correct? With the hp and suspension involved the in game speed seems a bit slow... Its not exactly a heavy combat car.

    1. CC is really slower then it should be in RL. Nerfed for balancing reasons. Unfortunately.

    2. If it had its more historical speed it would be a useful tank. It could be used as a scout tank to get in quick and get out without getting shot. The M22 and Pz 1 C are both faster, have more armor and have a better gun.

      So giving an (its basically unarmored) combat car speed when it has nothing else to its name is only fair. I don't expect the T7 CC to ever get its top speed but considering how its original equipment .50 cal HMG was basically all it had (It had a few air cooled .30cals as well) and the armor only good against light MG rounds I find the need to nerf the speed hard to believe. Its speed would allow it to flank and be used against the thinner sides of other tanks.

      I plan to get together with the rest of the clan and yolo in it in TC battles and try to speed cap in it. Or do tank jumping in it on Sand River in the training room.

  13. Off topic.

    Was looking through Stuart (History of the American Light Tank, Vol. 1) by [R.P. Hunnicutt] and I noticed that on the M41 SPG the rate of fire was listed as 4 rounds per min max. And in game it is listed as 2,4-2,67. Seems a bit of a difference.

    2. I know it could. The M37 could do 8 rounds a min and I get why it was nerffed but the M41 could seriously use the rof buff. Even a rate (with food and BIA and 100% crew being active) of 3.2-3.5 would be fine. It might not be 4 rpm but your going to miss most of the time anyways (dispersion after the shot is insane) so why not increase the rate?

  14. The "fix" to the is-3 is frankly wrong... It's a buff to a tank that's already performing well. It's, frankly, rediculous. This is Russian bias through and through to make Russian tanks the go-to for competitive play. The change in the armor angles is specifically to make the IS-3 resistant to all standard rounds.

    Lets not forget that top tier artillery still needs its buff.

    This company dissapoints me almost as much as Gaijin. The difference being that Gaijin is new and gets a pass, for now.

    1. Excuse me, ist there another tanks called IS 3? Because the IS 3 I drive was slightly nerfed in 8.9. The change slightly modifed the upper bow plates to make them easier to penetrate vice reducing the vulnerability of the lower plates. Since most shot hits the upper plates, this is a net nerf. Also the side and rear of the turret was made weaker

    Team play was Awsome, we played until I couldn't keep my eyes open. The best aspect is the abillity to exclude players that have no cohesion. We were making money and meeting people from everywhere. That brings me to the chat abillity on the team play. This made the team play just great.
    I would like if you gave us the abillity to pick a five map rotation of our choice to go with the team play.
    Also do you intend to open the team play to tier ten. The only reason I can figure you kept it at tier 8 is becuase of premium tanks

  17. When I join with my tier 6 and there is 1600player from tier6 queued up... I have to wait like 2 mins to get a team, and then I get a team with tier 8 players... what fucked up MM is this ???

    1. The Team Battles is set up for basically tier 8 tanks.

      Although it is possible to win a game with just 6 tier 7 tanks or 7 tier 6 tanks. It is however difficult if your doing it with a random team. With a planned team is it very doable. Most people from the 20+ games I did in Team Battle all took tier 8 tanks. I ran with my clan and Hummel as I only have the one tier 6.\

      The MM is messed up curretly for 2 reasons.

      1 you have not played enough battles in it. (everyone is basically on a clean slate apart from WGs created player score)

      2 a majority of people are playing tier 8 because that's what a majority of the teams are.

      I have noticed that if the commander has a bad WG score then we seem to run into lower ranked teams (looking at over all WR for the other team) more often. But it remains to be seen if this happens over the long run. It is after all only a few days old. Give it 2-3 weeks for the game to balance itself out.

    4. For me KV-IS and Hellcat.. always more than 1 min to queue up and from ~1500 online tier 6 players I get into a battle with 80% tier8 players.

      I know Hellcat is a TD(-ish thing) but KV-IS is not... MM needs some fixing as soon as possible.

    5. KV-1S had one of the best matchmakings in tier 6.
      Its mm-weight was nerfed hard in 0.8.6 to discourage sealclubbing with it,
      but stayed as OP as it ever was.

      With the incoming nerf to it the mm-weight might get better, but the tank itself will change to a slow thing and will act more like a KV-1. So i suggest you stop playing it, like i did, or you accept how it is.

      The good times where you roflstomp tier 6 tanks all the time are long gone.

  18. Overlord - does wargaming has any plan to get rid of the enormous amounts of bots (bot-players) in the game? Since as it seems reporting does not work. I pul players to banned list if I see that they are bots and I constanly meet with them again and again. So for me it seems nothing is being done against these "players". Or they are players as well and only that counts?

  19. Super cool, i read changelogs and still can't find option for account transfer to other region....is it really so hard to implement this? Let it cost even damn 20k gold but implement this option, please.
