Public Test of 7.0. Stage 3

Public test of 7.0 update will be resumed today and will last until December 6, 2011.

World of Tanks v.7.0_test2 - 7.0_test3 patch notes:

- Fixed PzVI Tiger crash model bug
- Slightly reduced the absorption of HE damage by armour for non-penetrating HE hits
- Fixed a number of chat bugs
- Blocked the horn functionality
- Added base spots to the minimap Arctic Region.
- Fixed the work of suspension for PzVIB Tiger II tank
- Added tank company tier filter
- Fixed system message bugs when medals are received
- Fixed rare bug with game client closure while in the tank company interface
- Reordered game menu buttons
- Fixed bugs of turret camouflage in M6A2E1.
- Fixed IS-4 hitbox
- Team kill and team damage penalty rates set to as for v.6.7
- Reduced T40 tank destroyer repair cost

    You mention a lot of hit box fixes in this case IS-4 but no specifics as to what has been fixed.

    Any details in this case as to what specifically has been changed so we know what to test. :)

    an option to choose "i dont want to play with/against arty" would be the best thing

    it is impossible to make good combat fights with tactical movements because you have only two options: camp/stay where arty cant hit you or try to have fun and fight against other tanks and can get hit by arty

    if there are soooo many people who like to play with arty simply implement the option..there should be enough enemys

    at least a simple regulation would be nice
    "2 artys max per team"

    developers seem not to get the point that arty ruins the game..

    if you like to play arty play it but give the thousands of people who hate arty the chance to play without it!!

    so it is neither a permanent thing nor a "i play with arty as much as i like but i dont need to play against it" thing

  16. I think this is an example of Wargaming listening to its customers. Horns? Gone. HE? Buffed (but we'll see how much). Base alarms too loud? Made less loud.

    Looks very good.

    Now I just wish they would also listen to the main issues too:
    * Lower arty damage and/or amount of arty in game
    * Make spotting system more intuitive (e.g., shooting makes you more visible than now)
    * Add tier 10 mediums and TDs

    the point is that there are TOO MANY players who simply hate arty and dont have as much as fun in the game as they would without arty!!

    so it should interest wargaming to implement an option who makes as much players as possible happy..

  26. Overlord U did not writte anything for 88mm Nazi gun, earlyer it was mantoned that it will be increesse from 220 damage to 240 damage. I stop play JgPanzer because I wait for this change. Its realy hard to grind tear 6-7 with exist 88mm gun.

  27. Actually arty is the most crippled unit in the game - arty can kill 5 tanks and only get 200-500xp total and barely enough cash to cover the shells that were fired. I rarely play arty for this reason.

    A: German 88 L71 had it damage increased to 240.

    And it is almost nonexistent and does not address HE bouncing with no detonation off almost flat armor.

    Well thats because you not get the point...its not about kills..its about damage..half arty users (or maybe half of all players) dont get that...i got 1 kill and 40k+ profit with arty no problem (because i hit the big guys turn they % almost to zero, kill arty and damage TDs)...you kill 6 guys with 4% and earn top gun with minimal profit...what is better??? guess...

    You must know that Overlord is a big fan of artys himself, he played 268 battles with his Object 212 Tier7 russian SPG.

    Unfortunately, while thousands of players want to play the game without any artys, Wargaming isnt going to do aniything about the problem, they even denying the existance of the arty problem.

    That is the current situation.

  39. Overlord, I have ventilation on my GW Panther (it was for me always quite funny to ventilate open vehicle ;) ). As I understand during introduction of 7.0 it will be automatically sold for buying price? And I hope you will remember that till 12th December equipment price will be halved. I don't wont to lose a few hundred thousand credits due to this ;).

    And it seems to me that you didnt played ever a battle with a slow and big, high tier heavy tank on an open map against more than four artys in the battle. It is unplayable!

    Your choices are:
    A: Camp behind the buildings(if there is any on the map) during the whole game, doing nothing. (sounds like fun, eh?)
    B: Go and try to play, and you will be spotted and killed by arty in seconds.

    The current situation is not good, and need to be changed immediately. Thousands of players think and say the same.

  47. I got question for you Overlord, why are you removing ventilations from GW Tiger or GW Panther? Someone said to me artys already got "vent stats", so when you will remove it from artys which can have them it will be positive for us, so we dont need spend money for ventilations. What is true on this, will have GW Tiger or GW Panther the same battle performance or stats without ventilation?

  49. DON'T MESS WITH ARTY!! THose of you that complain of arty, obviously don't play arty. Your sitting in your tank with 300mm of armor, a 6 second reload, and 2500 hit points complaining about arty. Give me a break. I have 40 second reload, 11 mm of armor and move like a lead sled. I should have something to offset that. And a 240mm howitzer does fine. ;) OVERLORD, I think things are just fine. What do you think?

    sure it is fun to play with arty but its no secret that arty simple ruins the game for those players who prefer to play with big tanks and want to fight against each other and not agianst an invisble enemy..

    Our reload is just fine. For the amount of damage we do now, our reload is literally one of the most balanced things in the game. I play American arty, the slowest reloading arty in the game, and with a rammer and 100% crew, my reload is quite fast for the amount of damage I can throw at tanks some hundred meters away

    really? you mean its developers + arty players + medium players + light players vs heavy and td players!

    what is medium and light supposed to do in game without arty? absolutely nothing

    even now its world of heavy tanks... so why would you want to remove only thing that counters them (other than other heavy tanks)???

    Don't blame arty players for the amount of arty Match Maker puts in game. The most players can do for setting the amount of arty in game is all joining in as a platoon. Even then, you've got 11 other tanks that will or won't be arty based on how match maker feels like crapping on you that round. It's going to take devs a long long time before they get that right. As I understand it right now, it's just a numbers game, but it really shouldn't be. So we'll see if they ever fix it. Until then, Sit back, let your scouts do some work, and enjoy being slammed by arty if you don't keep on the move.

    Can you tell us what was the reason for this change? I have never felt HE was very effective, but rather, it is not as good as AP, so you use it only when AP is failing to penetrate. Where is the current problem that you are fixing?

    A: The reason for this was the overall reduced amount of damage under 120mm HE shells do in v.7.x series.

    light..medium..heavy..td..scout..they are all visible for you and you can fight against them and it depends on how good you know your tank and enemy tanks
    but you can do nothing against arty..
    that point isn't so hard to understand is it?

    Overlord, I have fast and reliable solution for whiners like this one. Add AI controlled fighter-bombers with antitank rockets, all whining about arty will stop and people will start to take notice it's just a vehicle - you can find it, you can kill it, you can outmanouver it. Let them learn what "invisible, overpowered, uncounterable" enemy means, since these adjectives are vastly overused.

    The point is hard to understand because you're wrong.

    I player tier 2-10 regularly - and there is plenty you can do vs arty, plenty.

    Lemmme give you a tip. Don't camp.
    Lemmme give you another tip, it you see an enemy - arty sees you.
    About about 1 more: Use terrain
    I can keep going: Move. Yup, you're a tank - flank and move.

  68. To make it clear I understand that less HE damage absorption means that what used to be say 50% dmg reduction for HE is now reduced by some amount (for example lets say its now 40%) which means we now do more damage with non penetrating HE hits.

    Overlord, care to give us an idea by how much this damage absorption is reduced?

    You can kill them also quite fast with T8 and T9 TD's and T9 meds.

    HE damaged was nerfed in 7.0 In this third test it is partially unnerfed. I think it is difficult to give exact percents. Damage from nonpenetrating HE depends from targets armor thickness and shell caliber. Very often it is much less than 50 prc. In case of Shermans 105 mm gun it is as I noticed usually about 30 prc of maximum damage.

    If playing SPG is do difficult, then you should stop playing them and get heavy tank. And tbh I would like to see heavt tank with 2500 hp 300 mm armor and 10 shots per minute. Maybe this are T110 stats or French top heavy, cause now there is no such tank ;)

  71. Flanking and moving only do so much when there are 3+ arty in a match.

    i can hit lights and mediums on the move. Its not that hard. Heck I dont even have to HIt them, just getting close is enough.

    Use cover people say. so hide behind hard cover all match?

    clearly that helps promote gameplay right?

    we need limits to amounts in matches and also we NEED tracers back.

    just tell us 3 examples what you can do against arty (and i mean examples who not consist of the idea to drive a scout tank..hope not to get one(or two)shoted by enemys..get behind enemys line and find arty...i mean real exmaples in a normal random battle!)

    in addition to this i think its easy for you to say how a t10 american or german tank (even russians but they are faster) drive on open field without gettin hit by arty
    slalom? 2meter to the front..1meter back? jump to the left if you see arty shell coming?

    if you play a map like himmelsdorf its not a big secret where you can drive without gettin hit (or at least reduce the chance) but on other maps?
    and how do you combine the "use terrain" and "dont camp" thing? do you collect the best terrain and drive with it?

    the point that enemy arty can see you if you see an enemy tank dont need to be refuted realy eh?
    maybe you didnt understand the viewing system..

  73. I think we can all agree that when they said they promised 7.1 would come Q4 2011, they really meant "We'll tell you this to please you" and will be released end January 2012.

    Honestly, if they are planning on pushing back the T34 premium switch and the T30 again, they truly show that WG does not really care for their fanbase...

  74. Wp: and yet somehow the maus t28 and t95 are almost invincible to the front...and its like they have weak spots on the top, almost like they were designed that way, Strong to the front, weak from above...
    Do you suggest we nerf the front armour of those tanks/td's so mediums and other heavies have an easier time penetrating them? I'm mean - that's only fair right? Right?

    Simplified: the game IS a variant of rock/paper/scissors...you can't expect you're big rock to win every time. Nor should it.

    Its a nice little flash game, no arty. You roll around with other random monobuild tanks and shoot each other.

    You'll thank me later. Go play it - you'll be far less angry

    Q: why did you guys remove ventilation from GW-Panther???

    It doenst make so much damage as the other t6 artis and the hidden accuracy nerf from 0.6.39 to 0.6.4. was bad enough for it's accuracy ("many" shells landing outside aiming circle or on the edge of it).

    So ether increase splash, accuracy of the gun or give us back the ventilation please!!!


    Or are you simply afraid that beta veterans will start to wipe the floor with arti noobs ... countering them? That would be the ideal soulution for many arti whining threads and the number of artis to handle for the matchmaking would go down, because the noobs cant just sit 15 min behind a bush and harras the enemy.

  79. who ever said arty doesn't make money has obviously never played a hummel or GW-panther cause they can easily make you crap tons of money even on a free account (more so then tanks) after repairs and ammo restocking (there one on my money grinders =)unless of course you go for kills instead of helping out your team where it truly is needed!!

    Also to all these arty haters you guys should stop complaining (unless you always get into games with 5+ artillery pieces) cause its relatively easy to make arty miss you no matter what tank you drive....even the big slow maus.....and this is coming from someone who has grinded to the E100, maus, E50, t32 (working on t34 =) and half way up the german TD'ER line =)

  84. Simple problem with arty is more then 3 in a match! I like arty , I think is there was no arty they would have to have a arty substitute but 4-7 a side is dumb. There is a lot you can do to counter arty 1 is spot for yours :-) & let them kill the tanks that spot YOU for their arty.


    Anyways m103 for sure in the 7.1 patch right?

    Arty is there for balance, otherwise the light and medium tanks losses much of there use, so everybody would play heavy. The way you heavys look to arty is the way mediums (I) look to heavys and the way lights look to mediums,... take out the arty and the chain is broken and everybody will fight with an TD or heavy and the game gets boring.

    If you still dont get it:
    You heavys say you cant cross the open without being shot by arty, well I cannot cross the open in my medium witouth being shot by the heavys who takes a lot of damage from me. And also, if my tracks are shot i die in seconds, you guys still have a chance thanks to heavy armor.

    Somehow, when there happens battles without artys, this tanks aren't immortal. I can kill all this tanks with T9 meds, T9 and T10 heavys and T8 and T9 TD's. And T28 is easy to kill even with T4 tanks. All these tanks can also be penetrated from front by many other tanks and TD's.

    IMO, the only good reason for keeping artys in game is giving light tanks some job. And there should be limit on number of arties in game. Battles with more than 3 strong arties sucks cause you have 2 choices, hide well or suicide. Even in T54 or E50 you can't evade top artys shells for long due to huge splash range.

    And yes I play arties, I even had elited GW E. But now i use only T6 artys for credits. They aren't such fun spoilers then T7 and T8.

    Agreed. Limit it to max 3 (which would mean they can't platoon to 5 when that is released) AND, do not put scouts in high tier (higher than their medium brothers say) battles when there is no arty.

  93. WP: I can see placing a limit on the number of arties in game, but IF you do you'd also need to limit the number of heavies.
    But I strongly disagree that you have only 2 options in arty heavy games.

    The game favors aggression, and light tanks aren't the only one's that can be aggressive.

    I don't mind arty heavy games even if I"m in a heavy tank. Most of those games are also pretty quick, and its rare to see a game with more then 4 or 5 arty a side most days. Besides - arty get the crap shoot too of being places in city heavy maps - that's pub battles for you.

    Imagine if the next thing they come up with is 25% bonus Rammer for 200 gold per tank. Would change the balance to favor pay to play'ers significantly.

    It is not currently pay2win, anyone can play and win without paying. To be accurate, the game is currently pay2playfaster, which is quite a generous balance. obviously the free play keeps the matches full, and the people who choose to pay keep the servers online.

  107. A lot of bug fixes. It looks like the only major change will be the HE fix? Is this different than the HE nerf we were hearing about? I was under the impression it was a change in the mechanics of how the round detects a vulnerable area, and not a simple damage reduction. (A lot of tanks NEED that damage to compete. Others do not. Some tanks even need HE damage to them globally reduced, like the ridiculous amounts the T95 takes to the face w/o a spall liner [300-400].)

  111. I play all of the tank types and arty is there for a good reason. It adds another level to the game. Most of the complaining centers around a heavy tank player angry because he is getting his ass handed to him by an "invisible" arty player. Yes you are correct. If you play this game in a bubble where you do not work as a team you diserve to be crushed by an unseen arty.

    News flash!!! Have the players and tanks that work to find the enemy arty to eliminate it with friendly arty or counter arty lights, then your heavies can go slug it out and work as a heavy tank should...taking the fight to the enemy.

    I agree that arty should have a hard cap of 3 (tier 7-8) or 4 (lower tier). This gives teams some tactical flexibility along with keeping the arty angle. I play yan E100 and love my heavies. I also play an Obj 212 and love arty. I know the frustration of getting powdered by large arty. It keeps heavies honest and forces teams to work together to develop tactics to take out the dangerous arty.

    There are other issues with this game that remove it from the more realistic sims...but it sure is fun for what it is.

  113. We're not going to see 7.1 this year, mark my words. Suppose we get 7.0 around December 10th, that leaves roughly two weeks to get 7.1 tested and released before Christmas. Highly unlikely.

    Also: thanks for removing horns and the alarm for capturing the enemy base. The second one was particularly pointless; good riddance, I say!

    TBH I don't hate arty when I am in heavy. Usually I can survive a few hits. I hate arty when I play medium (huge splashes detracks me even when shots are greatly missed and detracked med is usually dead one, oneshooting is more possible due to weaker armor nad lower HP). I also hate arty when I play TD (oneshooting is also quite easy and detracking much more painful then in medium).

    And last but not least, the more artys in battle, the more people camp and hide. I've seen it so many times...

    It's rather clear. "Enemy base capture" means capturing enemy base by your teammates, and "own base capture" relates to capturing your base by enemies...

  127. Overlord, have you nerfed the IS-4 & the IS-7? The reason I'm asking this is becouse I see some differences between the public test server & the tankopedia armor values for the both.

    This isn't only applying to the Russians, the Germans have had their Tiger I buffed a bit from 100/80/80 hull armor to 100/82/82.

    Not to mention the StuG3 got the most deserved buff it could ever get, from 50/30/30 hull armor to 80/30/30.

  133. Overlord; a suggestion: is there any way for our garage to display where our various modules are? For instance, I have several sets of binoculars, several camo nets, several tool boxes, etc, but I have many tanks, and when I get ready to select a tank and enter a battle, I have to browse my way through all the various tanks in order to find the modules I want to equip. If the icons for the various tanks would also display an indicator for which modules were on that tank, it would be very helpful.

    There was a boxed version planned by wargaming and this needs some ahead planning. The retail tanks sitting in the full techtrees for quite a while weren't in the game early enough to have them in the first box. That's why people can buy the ~10€ box with the Minimaus and once we have the retail tanks available there will be another box version which will cost more.

  139. @Loge Matchmaking of KV-220 on a live 0.6.7 server is fine- 50% of the time it is one of the top tanks, 30% of the time it sees level 6 tanks, and in 20% games it can see 1-2 of those level 7 tanks. And its average armor penetration is a little bit higher, it is 93 mm on average.

Some not so small US company, called Boeing (maybe you heard about them or even used some products ;) ) has new product called Boeing Dreamliner. It was planned that Dreamliner will enter service in airlines on May 2008. But they had some problems. They were serious enough to delay first model entrance by more than 3 years. First Dreamliner finally entered service just 5 or 6 weeks ago. And many airlines from all the world are waiting for hundreds of planes they ordered in last years.

    So as you see WG is as unprofessional as Boeing ;)

    You should make a "kid's battle" like random battle, only difference, there will be no SPGs. I've never heard experienced players whining about SPGs. (Only limit their numbers per side in random battles.)

    And yes, I'm offending arty-haters, go play FPS games! SPGs don't ruin the game, but you do!

    Better be in the next couple days if we are to have any hope that 7.1 will come out by the end of the year. Overlord, I know that you have said the two patches are unrelated and being worked on separately, but there still needs to be a public test for 7.1. That needs to start within the next week in order to facilitate a pre-2012 release.

    And here I was really hoping to be grinding the French tank tree over my Christmas vacation. Seems highly unlikely that we will see 7.1 this year. Boo hoo hoo.

    Ever since update to test for US, launcher loads and says up to date but game will not start. I assume this is do to mods I am running.
