[WoT] 0.8.11 is Coming

How do you like the upcoming 0.8.11 update for World of Tanks?

Any major concerns or ideas?

WT E100 will lose 200HP btw.

  1. Quite excited about national battles, imho the feature I was waiting the longest for.
    Overlord, can you think of any reason of why WG is dead set against a Porsche tank destroyers tree?
    It can be easily done without many historical compromises and could be very interesting to play.

    1. I wouldn't say it's because of any special attitude towards the subject. Looks like we will be seriously cutting down on tank production in 2014. So it's definitely won't be the year of new exquisite branches.

    2. I think it makes sense to cut down on tank production, but why rejecting it even in perspective?
      E-25 proved to be pretty popular and such a line would have at least 2 tanks like that.

  2. I like what I saw on the testserver. Historical battles are nice but the reworked maps are what really make me want this update. Rebalance to tier X TDs seems to be ok (WT E100 still quite strong imho, not so sure about where the Foch 155 stands now) but I want to test this out on the live servers in combination with the camo-nerf for TDs.

    I dearly hope that what many report is true for me as well: the performance FPS-wise on some maps seems decidedly better now.

    All in all, nice update.

  3. Bit worried about TD's though. The new maps seem to be losing a lot of concealment and with the TD camo bonus being removed one has to ask: What is the point of TD's?

    From a first glance at the maps and the patch notes it appears that anything a TD can do a medium or a heavy can now do better. As they have a turret, and so don't have to move the hull and drop their camo.

    Most TD's also lack armour protection to take hits. The entire idea behind TD's was a kin to this:

    2. Really? Thats extremely interesting becase that cannon really didn't suit the game in alpha. I'd be pretty interested how you'd change the damage model to make it work.

  5. Finally we can move whole crew with one click!

    On test server I played WoT first time since August 2013. And must admit that such break kills skill a lot.

    Unfortunately so far wasn't lucky enough to have national battle. And to be honest the true effects of that mode will be visible after a few weeks.

    Making maps less campy is good idea.

    In case of tank production. I am both for and against adding new tanks. You surely added too many prototypes or even fake or half-fake tanks. Too many lines in some nations (like 2 lines of US TD's). I totally do not like tier X cause such vehicles dominate it totally after introducion of X tier TD's from which none (!) was produced and used in fight. Similar case we have with SPG and heavy tanks. Only in mediums many are mass produced vehicles, but even here they are probably in minority.

    From the other side there are many real life vehicles which should be in the game (Achilles, Archer, Italian, Swedish, Czech, Hungarian, Polish and some other maybe too) so I hope that after you remake models of current tanks, you will come back to adding historical armor.

    I am happy that historical battles are closer and closer. I hope that it will be smth fine and let me to drive many historical vehicles from my garrage without watching prototypes and fakes.

      HB are one of the strategic goals for 2014. There have been a lot of heated discussions and change of plans regarding this mode. It's finally in development.

    4. Overlord, is there any word on skill based matchmaking for historical battles? I really hope so, I want somewhere to play the BT-7 without sealclubbing. I love that little thing.

      I also like introduction of climactic maps. I was long ago suggesting that maps are not enough warlike and there should be more signs of intense fight (like destroyed artillery guns, some trenches, trucks lying in ditches and so on)

      if I remember correctly, HB are more about unequal teams (X Tigers vs Y T-34s) and respawn.

    9. Ah, sounds interesting, so for example when I take in Kursk T-34 I will be respawned once or twice, but when in Tiger or Panther I will appear only once in battle? That can be very nice idea cause in some way it "multiplies" T-34 HP to balance "fat" Tigers and Panthers while it is still the same amount of HP per one tank. And it nicely shows that there were huge amounts of T-34 fighting against few Tigers and Panthers. Can give quite realistic feeling. Guys in Tigers will feel huge power of these tanks (as for 1942) killing many T-34 and trying to stop the waves of enemy tanks, while players in T-34 can have a few tries to finally kill that Tiger.

      And I have one question. There appeared info that some German tanks will be split (Pz III, Pz IV and StuG) so there will be in the game more historical versions of that vehicles. Am I right thinking that it was done because it was needed for historical battles? Btw I love idea of that split and again you make something I suggested long ago. Nice to see that. :) To be honest recent hints about historical battles and split historical tanks into more real life models makes me more interested with coming back to game on life server.

    10. I should give a little more detail.

      WoT is obviously a casual, arcade tank game. But the lack of respawns, armour system and vision system give more serious players plenty of scope for being skilled. Not just twitch reflex skills, real tactical thought.

      WT just feels like a CoD clone. Get a good KDR and thats all you need. I've given up playing it even though the Catalina is such a great plane and WoWP will never add it. Plus I can't even play WoWP during the week due to low population at my play time.

      I really don't think a mode with respawns has the same excitement of a single life.

  7. Not happy about the TD alpha nerf...I don't think it's necessary. The WT E100 isn't affected nearly as badly. The chassis and turret rotation speed is not that bad and neither is the aim spread while turret rotating. HP nerf...don't see the point when one hit damages gun, kills crew, etc.

  9. Just logged in to check the new crew options and look, a faceplam

    You can one click crew to barracks but you can't put it on another tank
    There are better options in 8.10 -
    right click - send crew to barracks
    right click on empty crew slot - put best/same class crew ( tada that's how you transfer crew from regular to premium tanks or in general when you buy a tier higher tank ).
    Then again retraining transfered crew is much easier with one click, but transfering crew... how did you miss that ?(sadface)

    It shows how litle the developers actually play the game.
    I transfer crew from IS4 to IS6 twice a day and you made my routine worse, because I have to manually put the crew on IS6, play a battle so I can recall that crew later on, but what if I need to put IS7 crew on IS6, now I can't revoke the IS4 crew later on.

  10. I am personally a big favour of having tier X TDs nerfed in 2 aspects:
    Alpha damage reduced is very nice - especially when most TDX have very solid armor
    Accuracy reduction while moving is a huge plus to make sure heavy and medium tanks have a clear role when attacking.

    I am however very concerned with the 183 deathstar. It might be true that noobs cannot use the tank to it's full capabilities, however even noobs know how to ruin the game for any random tier 8 or 9 vehicle before death... Reducing the Alpha to 1600 and compensating with RoF would help the noobs due to lower reload speed and the alpha would still be powerfull without ruining a tier 8 or 9 in only 1 volley...

    Furthermore I cannot understand why the WT E100 need to have such a huge clip. If only it had 3 shells for the big cannon and 5 for the small cannon it would still be different than T57/Amx50 and with a much shorter reload time actually able to help the team more often and not being able to 1-volley a Maus and still have shells remaining.

    Besides this I am looking forward to rebalanced maps and I can't wait for new graphics later on

    1. Also those very, very expected reticles are nice - What took WG so long??? Finally some good aiming options without having to rely on mods. Less mods are nice if you ask me. Now we just need to ban the mods responsible for spamming the chat (Im spotted, taunting mods and reload mods cluttering up the chat) and have the minimap mod either implemented or banned. Being very competetive having the minimap remember all last spotted enemies on the map is borderline. It should be a feature for everybody or none!!

  11. The WTF E100 changes aren't that meaningful. The 128 still has amazing handling. Really the clip size needed to be reduced.

    The other changes to TDs seem good, especially if the camo after firing really got nerfed. A side effect is that the JP E100 is now less terrible compared to the other TDs.

  12. Map changes seem to be OK, TD and interface changes as well. But hey, did you at WG tested this new confrontation mode in midle (5,6) tiers? KV1 and KV1S vs. (3001H and 3601) or (Churchill I and VII) or (T1HT and a M6) - isn't it guaranteed 90% WR to russian side?

      WG already nerfed many Russian vehicles many times. You have probably never seen old KV-1 with 107 or 152 mm guns in tier 5, Su-85 with 107 mm in tier V. "Magic flying immortal" T-54 in a few months after his introduction. "Immortal" Is-4's and IS-7's soon after EU/NA release (Aprli 2011). Almost impossible to penetrate Object 704. T-28 with 85 mm gun and so on... Long gone are times were clan war teams used almost only IS-7.

  13. It took VERY VERY long to change something regarding TD`s. Too long in my eyes.
    They made Tier 10 battles a horrible experience for me.
    Are those the right decisions WG took now? I doubt it. But time will tell.
    I would have done something else.

    New map and map changes: As always -> Yay!

    Excellent quality of life changes with rating top to bottom:
    Chat history
    Chat disabling (would have prefered to see who has it disabled. If you meet friends in randoms you dont know if they see what you write.).
    Crew oneclick-tankretrain
    Tech tree to tank switch

    All in all a mediocre patch. Not bad and i really appreciate especially the quality of life stuff,
    but minor compared to the last ones.

    1. Balancing changes do take a lot of time. It's measure twice or several times, and cut once thing.

    2. What i do not understand:
      When a game developer discovers a problem with imbalance,
      why doesnt he simply make soft-nerfs,
      and reduces the problem step by step?
      I agree it takes some time to verify if there are real problems,
      and then you have to decide how to solve them.
      But why does this take half year to a year?
      Should really be more a matter of many weeks than many many month.

    3. Usually it takes 1 update to analyze the data - a few weeks for stabilisation and then data collection and analysis. This usually means that the changes, when they are agreed on usually get introduced in 2nd or 3rd update (in difficult cases).

    4. Doesn't matter what you say, the FOCH155 situation is just unacceptable.
      To let that thing be untouched for so long is just WG fail.

      The balancing team is not functioning and let tier 10 battles go down the train for a whole year just because of this.

  15. I'm happy about the td nerf and about the reworked maps cos' Northwest was messed up right from the beginning. Auto-loader E100 - i hope nerfing stops here !!

    To all those are crying about the clip size: Stop crying / buy one and start using it! THere is no point nerfing the gun.. only that compensates for the paper turret. Same case: UK ion-cannon td. But chill, since no tank new exists without nerf. Auto-oader E100 will live like this for another 3-4 month - till enough player research and buy it, only then it is going to get nerfed - old habbit of WG. I hope the crying stops here about the "OP"-ness of the gun...

    1. Sandor, you are absolutely not making any sense whatsoever...
      It really does take a long time to make usefull statistics about new vehicles, however it is blatantly obvious a paper turret doesn't justify the existance of the current WT E100 with 12,8cm cannon.
      The tank itself is not the problem - but it's a problem when a tank can do this much damage on such a reliable scale in a matter of seconds and ruin the game because all players dig in and refuse to move anywhere. Telling people to get it themselves is not a solution and won't make the game any more balanced. Stop clinging to your OP statpadmobile and enjoy the game rather than enjoying a single tank...

    2. You are not right. If 12.8 gets nerfed then the UK Ion-cannon dmg shoulr be halfed as well and while we are at this point lets take half of every tank's dmg capability :D.... seriuosly.. cant deal with the tank then dont engage it in combat... solved. or use skills to defeat it. you are not alon on the battlefield use the "force" of the team not the crying darkside.

    3. You should not nerf the dpm - you need to make sure the burst is not capable of EASILY annihilating 1,2 or more tanks in a single burst. Honestly I think the 183 should have an average damage of 1600 instead of 1750, but also believe a better reload might even help noobs a little?

    4. That is exactly why the whole tank was created for. To be able to decimate enemies with the drum clip and the fast release of the shells with long reload. Stop complaining.

      That is a unique tank, Which you cant engage up front - probably that is the reason you hate it. Learn some teamplay and you will be able to easily kill that monster.

    5. I dont hate it and I have no problem dealing with it - But looking at the results battle after battle telle me enough. Even the worst noobs in my clan is getting burried in topguns, Radley-Walters and everything. This game need balanced tanks - not end-level boss tanks to fill your deepest pleasures... I hope you will never be in charge of balancing anything but your own bank account...

      Last post you called a 3 IS-7 platoon OP in confrontation mode, this post you compare the 12,8 L/61 with the 183mm L4 when these two guns are like night and day and all the stats show that the FV215b 183 is at least very niche (as in UP).

      So I guess I can just say +1 to Thomas Nielsen.

      BTW if you play this game, you should know what WG developers usually do with new tanks. They make something insane, and nerf it to mediocrity later, in 2-3 step. This is the standard process, nothing new about it. If you are good player enough, you can deal with it.

  16. I have read where players are able to play national mode and Historical?? but I cannot find them anywhere in UI. I have been wandering if I even DL the 8.11 now Is there some magic secret to getting into one of these modes?

    1. National battles are at this moment on test server, They are a version of random battles so you will get them from time to time, while playing random battles (if you do not turn it off in options).

      Historical Battles are now in development and will be most likely introduced that year as a mode separate from random battles.

  17. I personally really like the perspective distortion (FOV) change! It makes the massive vehicles look as massive as they are.

    Also, the new Maus player list icon is nice, given that the in-game vehicle doesn't have the fuel drum.

    2. Hmm, as far as I can remember, it was. Then again, I can't recall if I used any fast vehicles like my Hellcat or Leopard PT A. Even then, my larger vehicles didn't feel any slower compared to their surroundings, they just appeared more impressive.

  18. The problem with the WT isn't that it has 6 shots it's that it can fire them over so quickly. its the interdrum reload that needs nerfing, to make it more vunerable to return fire.

    Overlord why cant you make it so we can use the same crew on multiple tanks, and just lock all of them when one is used. Save farting about shifting crews about.

    2. I believe the key reason against this was probable usability mess related to these multi-vehicle crews. It wouldn't be smth obvious to explain. Especially for not advanced players.

If you restrict it to premium tanks it should be fine, i'm dubious its anymore complicated than the current system involving premium tanks, its surprising how many still don't know you don't have to retrain you crew to put on a premium tank, you could do with a pop up when they attempt to retrain crew to a premium tank (from the same tank type ofc).

      - Train to crew ro 100% on several perks is a pain in the ass. Some player pays to cut this with a 100% crew. Players would not pay for separate 100% crew if the same could be used on several tanks so Wargaming would earn less money. Simple.

  19. I don`t think that TDs camo had needed a nerf.
    It would be mutch better to limit the number per team per battle.
    If there are max two or three TDs in game on each side, there is no problem...
    But if i have a battle in el Halluf with 12 against 10 TierX TDs then it`s realy hard to do something with my Leopard... If I get spotted I am dead... but with maximum two per team...
    You know what I mean, same for spg....

  20. I still can not understand why is it a problem to introduce FOV slider?

    The whole issue is not only a matter of resolution. It also depends on HOW FAR are You from Your screen and how big the screen us itself. FOV as a tool is not only a matter of display properties and deciding "how much we want players to see", but is EXTREMELY important to comfort of play in many ways.

    There were many places where this was discussed (mostly this is a problem with console ports to PC that do not increase the FOV in the process). What the problem core is about is that when You have Your natural "cone of vision" there is a specific area of where You can have Your main focus and the outside area where Your periferal vision is. If You are a console player, You can have Your periferal vision filled with Your room itself as playing comsole games is almost always 2-3 meter from the screen. With PC gaming the problem is MUCH MORE complex as:
    - Different players have different distances from their screen, and the screen sizes vary MUCH MORE than in case of consoles. A player sitting 1,5 meter from a 26 inch screen will need much wider FOV (about 80-95 degrees) than a player that is in 1 meter form a 15,6 inch laptp screen (70-85 degrees IMO). The "trick" is that FOV should match needs of both players so that they have the same amount of the battlefield view in their line of sight.

    What happens when You lock FOV?
    I get motion sickness and headaches in FOV that is to narrow, some people get similar effects when having to wide FOV.

    Now what YOU, as WG should consider is NOT ONLY adding vertical and horizontal FOV sliders (as 4:3 monitors should have different FOV than 16:10 and 16:9), but also at least TWO settings of interface layout, with one being the standard "stick to the edge" and the other being slightly shifted towards the screen center (for bigger monitors and wide FOV).

    This is the ONLY optimal way to do this properly, and it still CAN be done also user friendly. What it takes is just to add a simple "self adjusting tool" that asks a player 2 questions:
    - How far are You form the screen
    - What is the size of Your screen
    Based on the resolution and size there can be easily a preset od proportions selected and distance from the screen allows to determine FOV size wthin these proportions. Simple, but extremely important for comfort of play.

  21. Hello i was wondering since the Nerf of the T26E4 Super Pershing i was wondering if it could be buffed because i just bought it and the gun is terrible and so is the engine and the amour on the front is good maybe drop that and use the dropped Armour for around the body Please

  22. Whole idea on S.pershing was to have a below-average dpm gun with troll frontal armor. If you are looking for better armored tank.. you should have not bought S.pershing. Read forums onn tanks before buying one - can save you from many strokes and broke mouse/keyboard.

  23. Well I finally got into a confrontational game Rus vs German I was in my IS7 running about 150ms ping. The germans had 10 auf E100 and 4 E50m and we had a mix of IS4 and Is7's with a few T62's my first encounter with a Auf E100 ended my game in 8 ses it took 4 shots and I was out and the whole team was out in 3 mins against the german auf E100 so my first experience with confrontation at T10 was pretty bad to say the least. So if this mode is going to be like this theres just no need in wasting my time with it. It clearly defines this match as an over balanced matched

    1. You should have seen German vs. Russians when rolling with E-100s, Mauses, Jgp-E100 , WT-100 and E-50Ms... on Fishermans bay.

      the Battle was won so easily, with only 2 tanks lost.
      E-100s and Mauses ate shells for breakfest while the Jpg-E100s and WT-100 raped the living shit out of anyone with the E50Ms providing very convincing support. :)

      Was a total rape fest. I rolled in with my Maus, 10k absorbed dmg and still had 1K HP.
      I think in high tier battles Brits and Russians are at a MAJOR disadvantage compared to German, French and US.
