Look to the Future: Game Modes & Features

A brief look to the nearest future of World of Tanks.

New game modes:

- Encounter battle (two teams are to capture the base in the middle of the map), Assault (one team attacks, the other one is to defend the base).
Status: in development, planned for "shortly after 7.0"
- Garage battle.
Status: in development and gameplay testing, planned for release this year.
- Historical battle. Faction-based battles with restrictions on vehicles and modules available.
Status: in development and gameplay testing, planned for release this year.
- Escort VIP (only a few tanks from the team have the ability to capture enemy's base, the opposite team is to destroy invaders).
Status: in development and gameplay testing, planned for release this year.

New features:

- Company battle divisions: 1) tier 10 max, no overall tier limitation; 2) tier 8, 6, 4 max, with the respective overall tier limitation.
Status: in development, planned for release this year.
- New crew skills and perks. A few dozens all in all.
Status: in development, planned for release this year.
- New achievements and medals.
Status: in development, planned for release this year.
- New realistic vehicle physics.
Status: in development, planned for release this year.
- "Superplatoons" for 5 players as intermediate chain between platoons and companies.
Status: in development.
- Commander's tools and special consumables for company and clan battles.
Status: in development.

Side content:

It's natural that the development of new vehicles and maps won't stop.
- Initial package of French tanks comes this Fall then HT USSR, TD USSR, TD Germany lines are going to be expanded.
- New maps will added at the speed of 1-2 pieces per month.
- Client-side resources will be compressed for better performance. It is supposed to decrease map loading times substantially.

  5. I have no hopes anymore with this game seeing as the E-100 15cm gun is total crappy derp gun. Why go for the E-100 which has less side armor maybe more mobility who cares when your vehicle is as big as a barn may as well go for the maus.

  6. Platoons of 5 kind of scare me, I think it may have too much of an impact on the match with 1/3 of the team coordinating among themselves, hope it gets lots of testing to make sure it doesn't cause too many almost guaranteed win teams.

  7. Well I promised it and I tend to keep my promises... I will buy more gold when we get more game modes... The premium must continue! They'll most definetly give more depth and longevity for this game...
    Hope the changes don't come too late, the player base seems to be dwindling. But that might be due to summer and the scorching temperatures... Luckily I have ice cold AC... The gift of the Devil. Aaaah sweet, sweet air con!

  8. I doubt half of this will actually happen. Nice to see, I will reserve judgement until we start seeing something other than late delivery on ALL patches, and "fixes" that don't break other things.

  9. Platoon of 5 will most likely have a platoon of 5 against them as well. (maybe two platoons of 3?) I bet they are trying to find a nice medium for it.

  12. I can't wait for this stuff to be released!

    When the new crew skills are released do you plan on doing a 'soft wipe' for current crew skills? Ex, I have a crew with 100% repair and 75% camo, will I be able to choose my first two skills again giving me 100% on the first and 75% on the second? As you know it takes a long time to train up the skills especially by the 3rd one, I can only imagine how long it would take to train a 4th or 5th!

  14. New skills/perks down the road.....do our current crew's keep accumulating xp after you have maxed 3 skills? How about if you max 2 and just keep saving on the last one. Could you save to 500%+, or is 400% (base + 3 skills) the maximum?

  16. That's great and all, but sorry, too little-too late. Battlefield 3 will be out before you guys get around to releasing more game modes to compliment your number total of 1 in the game right now that people had to slush through for a year.

    But live and learn. If WG is still around after WoWar puts ME262's against Migs, maybe you guys will be able to plan ahead accordingly to have a proper amount of content available to your consumer in a more timely manner.

  18. So the timeline of major patches will be German HTs, then the French tree, then the changes to the USSR HT line with new tanks, then expanding the USSR TD and German TD lines.

  20. Yep, so the IS4 can continue on dominating for a good while of course. That and so they can go on an adventure to find the elusive "factual russian data" on the T9 that was going to replace it so it too can dominate instead of "having problems" with it like they are now. LOL.

  22. I'll definitely fire the game up every now and then but the view system, whether working correctly or not, and artillery have me taking a full time out and I will not be buying more gold/premium until I see a significant fix.

    I can deal with a maus disappearing at 75 meters or a med speeding towards me at 50m and then disappears but the arty has to go

  23. Instead of all these new games modes how about an option to FORCE THE MATCHMAKER TO NARROW DOWN THE TIER SELECTION for battles. I am stuck on tier 7 and I don't thinkg I'll ever get further. Sick of playing with tier 10!

    A: Platoons of 5 wont be fighting in random battles. Only vs 3 other superplatoons.

    Q: Will there be any advantage for the attacking team in the attack/defend mode? Because it seems to me defending is a huge advantage and they will win most of the time if the attackers don't get some bonus.

  34. Of course the French line must come before updating the Russian heavies, otherwise they wont sell many more Garage slots. All those hoarding KV's and KV3's would have sold them to make space for the new line

    Because the war ended in 1945 and there were no IS-3 or T-54 against Germany.

    A: We will reproduce some real historical battles, so only vehicles that actually took part will be allowed. mainly we are going to focus on the period of 1937-1945.

  45. To be honest with you - Taking a 6 month long break seems to be a good idea right now.

    At the current rate of development, regular players reach the high tiers too fast.

    The only solution to that would be the diversity of game modes, so that players in high tiers (= endgame mode) can STILL enjoy the game.

    Currently the only thing worth doing is Clan Wars... And it seems that it wont change for another half a year?

    I personally believe that your current development plan is bogus, you should focus more on adding diversity to the game rather than new maps/vehicles. Especially when there are only 2 game modes atm.

    Why not make a "random battle" mode with vehicles from only ONE faction? All-German-Tank teams vs. All-American-Tanks teams, etc... Mixed teams are just too goofy.

  51. Very nice. I am looking forward to new maps, and new battle modes.

    I have 2 suggestions:

    1. It would be nice to be able to see the Mountable Equipment on your tank once you have entered battle. For those who use binoculars or camo nets, but move them around and are not sure what they put on the tank.

    2. Supply truck - counts as one low tier tank on the team, and limited to one per team. Players can view the lineup of tanks in the battle loading segment, and decide if they need to change their ammo loadout, or even mountable equipment (for $$$ or gold). The loading should take 30-60 seconds to accomplish (there should not be any waiting in line for other tanks, it should be automatic, based on the requesting tanks choices. Reload pop-up would appear when a tank approaches the cargo truck within a specified distance. The reload truck could earn EXP and $$$ based on items sold.

    Alternatively, this could be a placement on the map (like the pile of boxes near the flag)

    I see this as a good opportunity for WoT's to sell gold ammo to tankers entering a match where they are lower tier.

  58. Q: What type of model are you going to use for the StuG-E100?

    Suggestion:
    Make some sort of consumable that can be used only once per battle to remove a tank wreck sometimes its very anoying that passages get blocked. Although it is fun for the gameplay but sometimes its just to frustrating because when one vehicle takes to long to be pushed away. You are a smoking wreck fast, and because that part is blocked and could be used for a good assault route. Instead a massive camper battle starts to occur.

Because I am finding a few of them are never providing an enjoyable game at all and are better off just suiciding than wasting time playing. I'd happily pay money and wait longer in matchmaking not to play at least 4 of the current maps ever again.

  60. I have a thought to the defend only mode. It is in PUGs easier to defend, especially on certain maps, for example the 2 spawn or south spawn on cliffs you are able to hardcore camp. So some maps or side of maps should be excluded, if possible. I hope the number of players is increasing for all this good ideas. My recommendation, after German heavy release focus on American tanks, I hope that will satisfy the American market. Thx devs and whole WG team, still a big fan of yours.

  61. We need UK tanks. I don't know why the devs did french tanks first. French tank development was set back by the German occupation, so many more prototype tanks are needed.

    Also, Britain was the birthplace of the tank, and produced a number of famous tanks both before, during and after the war.

    Can Overlord comment on why French tanks were done before British tanks?

    And don't say that 'nobody has done it before' - the game R.U.S.E. has French tanks, so do other games.

    A: Not saying that we are the first to introduce French tanks, but still. French post-war vehicles will be somewhat unique with automated loading, revolver system, and oscillating turrets. British tanks are being modelled currently and scheduled for Q1 2011.

  73. I and my buddies have come from 6 years of playing EVE Online and enjoy the immediate play this game offers however we were disappointed to find the platoon limited to 3. Word of the x5 platoon gives us hope. It fits perfectly for my circle of friends without having to form or join a company that will likely match us against teams we cannot hope to defeat. Is it possible to expedite the X5 platoon plans to the 6.7 update?

  74. So when are you guys gonna make it so that I'm not constanlty fighting 4-5 tiers higher?

    Why not average player tier then add 1 tier higher and lower then the average? So the games are far more balanced and fun.

    I rather wait 1 min to find a game then get instant game that are stupid matched and unfun.

    Right now it seems like every game I get into has 1-2 tier 10, 3-4 tier 9, 4-5 tier 8 and rest tier 6-7.

  77. Will the 0.6.6 patch date be released soon? I was loving the direction WG was going with the timely patches, but it seems like forever until I can jump in my new E-75, I got the creds, the exp, the crew, the equipment, now I need the tank.

I let 2 months of premium run out and 10k gold just sitting on my account cause the game has gotten boring. Good Jobs Guys keep up the crappy job.

    While these changes will be welcome to the game, I could care less.

    Fix the ungodly awful matchmaking system and I might consider playing this game again and spending money on it.

    That's all I have to say. Wait, fix the OP Russian tanks too, because yes Devs, regardless of the fact that you have said otherwise, you are biased and hey ARE OP.

    -Why the "attention ping" does not ring anymore? I want to warn people but that thing doesn't do any sound at all!
    -The markers on the mini-map are now too big, I can't see all my buddys positions when they are to close.

    Also I like how WG disabled the comments on their youtube videos. Were the comments bad publicity? I wonder why...
