The Battle of Prokhorovka (12 July 1943) was fought on the Eastern Front during WWII as part of the Battle of Kursk in the Soviet Union. The German Wehrmacht's Fourth Panzer Army clashed with the Soviet Red Army's 5th Guards Tank Army. It is one of the largest tank battles in military history.

  4. Just a question.. 50% off those tanks, is it just Credits, or Exp, or both?

  6. Q: 1 Q unrelated to this though. Are there any more city maps planned ie similar to Himmelsdorf?

A: Yes, we are planning to add some new city maps.

    A: Only profitability (credit income)

  8. I think he meant "Will there also be a 50% cut on the XP costs of a tank?"

  9. Q: I think he meant "Will there also be a 50% cut on the XP costs of a tank?"

A: Nope, only on price in credits.

  10. Question :

Do you really discount purchasing price of those tanks 50%? that means KV will be sold at 160k?

    ReplyDelete
  11. You'll have to make the Ferdinand's overheat and catch fire often during the battles to match conditions on the ground at the time

  12. What a wonderful Idea, you're trying to get folks to play these tanks and sort of recreate the battles in the game. very very cool.

But lets take that a step further, create a new type of battle (currently we have the random type) to a "historic" battle type where the tank you select is placed into one of the battles where it actually served? Just like you're doing here, use the same maps even, but let folks fight in a certain time period. Just a thought.

Love the game, love what you're doing with it.

  13. 1.q in future will be discount on premium tanks?
2.q do you plan permanently increase income for non-premium tanks ?
    thx for answers

  14. To Overlord:

Are the discounts only apply to the purchase prices? or apply to both purchase and sell prices of the vehicles?

  15. @Doc Panzer: fantastic idea!

Q: Overlord what do you think about this historic setup of battles where KVs fight at arctic region and m3 lees in the deserest accompanied by matildas against pz3s and pz4s?

A: Historical battle mode is in development currently.

A1: Quite possible during special events.

A2: Such increase is not planned.

A: We are already working on the concept of this new mode.

  19. The Panther and Ferdinand weren't part of the Prokhorovka battle. Please continue to rewrite history for the ignorant.

  20. The Battle of Prokorovka was part of the Kursk Operation so this is true for Panther and Ferdinand

    ReplyDelete
  21. I know it's way too soon to know for sure, but is the plan for Historic Battles to be as profitable as Random Battles?

In other words would one be able to exclusively play Historic Battles and move up at the same speed?

  22. Why do these events always get announced at such short notice? I bought my SU-152 yesterday.

  23. I was about to buy my new Tiger I. I guess it makes my job a bit easier... Perfect timing. Thank you, Wargaming.

Yeah WG always do that, even on previous Event

  26. in the historical mode will be great when tanks on the techtree and in the garage have some icons-random icon - historical icon.... when the icon will be light your tank will be able to play this... BUT is problem with america USA tanks so often are only prototypes...

  27. "The Battle of Prokorovka was part of the Kursk Operation so this is true for Panther and Ferdinand"

Prokorovka was a battle on the southern flank of Operation Citadel. All Panthers and Ferdinands were deployed on the Northern Flank, therefore they could never have been part of the battle.

    Stop miscorrecting History.

Taking into account earlier events, the discount will be applied to both purchase and sell prices (but you can buy vehicle with discount and sell tank with normal sell price after finish of the event).

  31. Q: The Panther and Ferdinand weren't part of the Prokhorovka battle. Please continue to rewrite history for the ignorant.

A: We didn't mention anywhere that they were, did we? However both took part in Battle of Kursk.

  32. Well, since I recently sold my Tiger I in rage (due to a losing streak), I'll rebuy it again and give it another chance. Thanks for this chance to correct my emotional mistake.

  33. I have made many negative remarks in the past regarding the imbalance between Russian and German tanks. Over that last few months I see good attempts at bringing balance into the game. I apologize

    Thanks

I still think that the T54 is driven by Hobbits - it is to small for humans

    ReplyDelete
  34. Actually T54 WAS driven by hobbits. The Russian army was recruited small soldiers for it. Not joking!

  35. A: We didn't mention anywhere that they were, did we? However both took part in Battle of Kursk.

Your either failing to understand that neither the Panther nor Ferdinand were at the battle or just being obtuse to excuse the inaccuracy.

"The Battle of Prokhorovka (12 July 1943) was fought on the Eastern Front during WWII as part of the Battle of Kursk in the Soviet Union."

With this statement you could prove that Panthers and Ferdinands were at every battle on the Eastern front.

German Fourth Panzer Army did not have Panthers or Ferdinands.

Further, just to add insult to Injury the 5th Guards Tank Army did not have M3 Lees at Prokhorovka. The 5th Guards Tank Army had some 409 T-34, 188 T-70, 31 Churchill tanks, 48 self-propelled guns of the SU-122 and SU-76 type, and a small but unknown number of heavy KV-1 tanks. Contrary to claims in some accounts of the battle, no SU-152 or SU-85 assault guns were fielded.

  37. Sidenote: if your income doubles and repair costs remain the same your profit margin will more than double, easily triple or quadruple per match (especially the higher tier tanks)... So FFFFFFFarm like it was 1711! I'm setting a minimum of 2 million credit goal for myself tomorrow, going to use Kv-2, Panther and possibly Stug and Tiger.

  38. Q :

    Hi Overlord !
I am looking for the RSS button on your blog, but didnt find it. Is it possible to get the RSS flux from this blog ? If not, do you plan to add one in the future ? I need it so much !
    Thanks :)

  39. hello overlord

Q: what kind of modes are you considering?
i'd like to see some battles of only one type of tank... or something like deathmatch (everyone camps in standard mode :/ ) ...also, rough ETA of some new battle mode?

    ReplyDelete
  40. @"Further, just to add insult to Injury "

They said "The Battle of Prokhorovka (12 July 1943) was fought on the Eastern Front during WWII as part of the Battle of Kursk in the Soviet Union." and this is correct, also tank allowed in promotion are correct for Battle of Kursk. You didn't notice that for that battle WG prepare only one map, covering most famous location?

@Overlord "We are already working on the concept of this new mode."

I hope it will be fully historical, no KWs with 107 and no PzIVs with 7,5L70

  41. So, why make the Ferdi a Tier 8 TD if its armor is papery thin?

    ReplyDelete
  42. LOL @ Anonymous

I love how you try to correct Overlord like you know the battle so well and yet all you can do is cut and paste Wikipedia?

Anyway fun event Overlord, great to see events like this to keep things active :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. Quit the nit-picking u morons.... it maybe not 100% historical what they said, but at least its an event where we get more credits, so y u making trouble all the time? Just shut the F*ck up and enjoy the game. And give your history lessons to someone who cares... :P

  44. "All Panthers and Ferdinands were deployed on the Northern Flank"
"German Fourth Panzer Army did not have Panthers or Ferdinand"

Oh yeah? Since when the Grossdeutschland Division deployed in the north?

  45. lol.

"Your either failing to understand that neither the Panther nor Ferdinand were at the battle or just being obtuse to excuse the inaccuracy."

    I'm so smart. S-M-R-T.

This is just a troll looking for feed, right? Nobody can be simple enough to make pointed assaults on the devs and expect a response. I give props to Overlord for not responding to stupidity.

  47. Camo rework

    http://jts.kapsi.fi/planetwot/infoCamo/#gertd

Any chance the German medium tanks get camo values like the russian and american ones. Will the E50 also suffer frompoor camoflauge. If these values are right, there is no point in buying a camo net for higher tier german tanks, it makes almost no difference to the already miserable values

  48. @Anon "So, why make the Ferdi a Tier 8 TD if its armor is papery thin?"

Because as TDs go, that thing is a BEAST.
