Balancing Changes in 7.0

The following balancing adjustment will be applied in the upcoming 7.0 update.

Reworked hitobxes of German tanks:
- Pz B2 740 (f): 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- Pz 38H735 (f): 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- Pz S35 739 (f): 16 armour groups + spaced armor. Added side spaced armour.
- Leichttraktor: 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- Panther II: slightly changed gun mantlets.
- Pz 38 (t): 16 armour groups + spaced armor
- Pz 38 nA: 16 armour groups + spaced armor
- Pz III/IV: 16 armour groups + spaced armor
- Pz II Luchs: 16 armour groups + spaced armor
- Pz VI Tiger: 16 armour groups + spaced armor
- Pz V-IV: slightly changed turret armour.
- StuG III: 16 armour groups + spaced armor. Hull front armour set to 80mm.
- JagdPz IV: 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- VK 1602 Leopard: 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- VK 3001 (H): 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- VK 3001 (P): 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- VK 3002 (DB): 16 armour groups + spaced armor.
- VK 3601 (H): 16 armour groups + spaced armor.

Rebalanced German tanks and guns:
- 8.8cm L/71 damage: 220->240.
- Minimum combat tier for VK1602 и T-50 increased by 1.
- Imprved ventilation removed from Gw-Tiger и Gw-Panther.

VK 3601 (H):
- Reload time of 7.5cm KwK 41 L/58: 3.5->4.5 sec.
- Aiming time of 7.5cm KwK 41 L/58: 1.1->2 sec.
- Dispersion during movement and turret traverse of 7.5cm KwK 41 L/58 increased by 10%.

PzKpfw V Panther:
- Ammo Rack Hit points -20%.
- View range of top turret: 420->430.

Panther II:
- Ammo Rack Hit points -10%.
- View range of stock turret: 460->430 m.
- View range of top turret: 460->450 m.
- Reload time of 8.8cm KwK 43 L71 for top turret: 6.1->6.7 sec.

E-50:
- Ammo Rack Hit points -5%.
- View range of stock turret: 460->450 m.
- Reload time of 8.8cm KwK 43 L71 for stock turret: 6->6.6 sec.

    A: The armour is getting better. No worries. The weld between upper and lower front plates set to 270mm, plus turret saw some buffing.

  12. There are some typo mistakes but everyone should figure out what is what...

    I'm glad that some of the American tanks got upgrades, especially T20 but I must disagree with increasing ammo cost for SPGs because money income will be reduced as well! This is a bad way of limiting number of SPGs per battle!

    A: Armour layout changed from 8 to 16 armour groups, this ensures better accuracy/realism. Spaced armour? You can find that on wikipedia as well.

    What does this actually mean?

    A: The stated vehicles had their armour reworked, which is aimed at providing higher level of detail (more armour groups). Some tanks got spaced armour (side skirts and mantlets mostly) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spaced_armour

    I like this very much. More accuracy on the move in my pershing and I won't get racked as much in my patton.

    Also, I assume the increase in reload times on the German tanks is only for the 8.8 cm guns and that the 10.5 cm gun reload times are the same.

  27. If you (Dev & WG) trie to pot soo many thing in next patch then release date will be on infinite loop date error = delay & delay ;)
    Why try so many things in one Packet and basically do not want to go on small steps for secure succes ?

    A: The DPM will be roughly the same. The aim was to increase alpha-strike.

    So the 7.5mm becomes even more worthless since the 3601 routinely gets placed in over-matched matches.

  34. yeah great 203mm and 180mm price raised and other article said S-51/su-14 income decreased by 15% and object212 income decreased by 25% bravo u really making the difference so we don't use artillery or force us to buy gold greedy company not happy with what you getting right now.

    That works for me. Don't even use the 8.8 on my Tiger 2, 10.5 cm all the way.

    As for the Pershing gun, its fine the way it is. Actually, the decrease in dispersion while moving will make it even more accurate on the move especially with the vertical stabilizer. Its going to make me love that tank even more.

  36. @BattleBacon, The 7.5cm KwK 41 L/58 was nerfed because it's absolutely ridiculous. It's a gold-round-only gun with high RoF, unreal penetration and surgical accuracy, giving it the ability to go toe-to-toe with tanks two tiers above it and have a decent chance in a slugfest. This will only force 3601 players to use one of its three other perfectly viable weapons.

  39. I'm assuming the changes to HE are different from the whole "spaced armor" thing, of course. I kind of take this also to mean that HE will become much less effective, especially against certain tanks?

    For certain tanks that have no other option but HE, is buffing their damage being looked into, or has it already been looked into, or will it just be a "we might look into it later if we need to" thing? I'm thinking of things like the M4 Sherman or the SU-152 - those sorts of guys.

  43. Wait, the 7.5 Conical? I thought the 7.5 KwK was the 2nd 7.5 you can get on the 3601 - the pz.III/IV top 7.5mm (which bounces more off of everything) and the 7.5mm long. The 3601 has like 5 guns - the 2 7.5mm, the Conical, the 7.6mm sniper, and the 8.8mm short money eater. I can't get to wot wiki here, to verify and it has been 3 weeks since I've been on...

    What do you think, we are blind or something? With every change like this u are loosing customers, WG. You should increase income about 20% for EVERY tank, to make this game fun again. Now you just make more and more people angry and frustrated.

    Q.2> so now patton will have more view range with stock turret than E-50 with upgraded one... was that nerf really necessary? E-50s arent even being used in clan wars, and with this u could just forget to see one on those battles..

    I was testing Sherman Jumbo with 105 mm HE on test server. Still able to kill 8 and 9 tiers heavy :). It looked like there were bigger differences in damage made by your shell. Sometimes no damage, sometimes just a little, and sometimes quite a lot. It looked for me more realistic. I think it will be now more important to aim with HE in weaker parts of armor too make more damage.

Hmm I see that noone has noticed that armor of e-75 need to be fixed to its frontal armor is better that e-100, for example lets take 105mm of Patton it penetrates 218mm and it can penetrate it sometimes from front, and now lets take BL-9 gun that have 2mm more of it and it cant penetrate eaven the lower part of armor. Same as Patton rear armor shots usually leaves no signs of shoot or eaven i see projectiles flying above my tank but still it gets shoted.
    and btw frontal armor of IS-3 was 160mm , and top speed of IS-4 was above 40km/h, really guys youre discriminateing eaven own tanks.

    a question about:

    ¿does the spaced armor cover only the intersection between mantlet and turret?
    Also, what about the mudguard flaps and the top track guard that's a single metal sheet and protrudes, shouldn't those be reworked as skirt armor?(applies to is7 mudguards as well)

    Sorry for double post but now I saw this. By riseing a prices of ammo youre killing a pleasure of gamepaly , it hurts when I see sometimes a price of ammo that I need to spend compareing to earned credits, atleast riseing a credits income a little would please everyone.
    And the most above all do some about this main guns its stupid when my cannon is is noclip mode , or eaven when im pointing it to left and bullet flews on right side or in the heavens

    Some dude has more than 1100 avg xp in that thing.. I know he pays for it, but it's still unbalanced..

  60. Decent changes overall, I like absolute majority of them.

    However a lot haven't been addressed:
    * No tier 10 mediums and TDs available
    * Arty damage is too big and random
    * Too many arties per game
    * Matchmaking very unfair, either one side gets all meds vs TDs or one side gets all scouts in an arty match
    * Spotting is broken, firing the gun does not reveal the tank who is firing often enough

Overlord, sorry for more questions on the armor groups and just what they mean (I have read your other answers), but is this why you can get a near miss (as in directly next to the tank) on an E-100, E-75, Maus, etc with an arty strike and splash them for zero damage sometimes? Just trying to understand better what these changes really mean.

    Also, what are the current 8 groups? Front, left, right, rear hull and front, left, right, rear turret I assume? And what are the upcoming 16? Will the actual stats be updated from the current Front/Sides/Rear format to something that reflects the new 16 groups?

  62. Are you trying to force people to buy premium tanks for credits instead of playing SPGs? Even if it is for reducing SPG stack matchmaking, it is your fault in the first place. You made matchmaking even worse from before.

    It is a bad way to force people play less SPGs because that would make people close their accounts especially the ones who only play SPGs.

    I think your marketing department needs a new vision of not acting like gypsies...

    There are dozens of non-premium tanks with which you can make credits quite easy. You don't need arty to do this. So buy a tank and play like man ;)

    You haven't noticed gun damage increase? Long 88 has damage increased by 10 prc. and rof decreased by 10 prc. So damage caused during battles will be the same (DPM is the same), or maybe even slightly higher because players hit many tanks only once. So now this one hit gives on average 20 dmg more, so mor credits.

    A: Yup. Spaced armour effectively absorbs HE damage. It's rather noticeable on E-100, Maus, Gw-E.

    A: Exact position of a particular group varies from tank to tank to provide better detailization of vehicle's armour. New system is far more accurate, it allows us to reproduce both weak and strong points (eg welds). In-game specs won't be changed.

    That explains why, thanks. Don't agree with the reasoning. The tier 4 lights when they were top didn't have significantly higher repair, to add it for the tier 5's was a rather rude shock. Tier 5 tanks should, IMO of course, be profitable, premium or not, unless you have a really really bad day.

But the answers/dates continuously change, dates get pushed back etc so of course I and others are going to ask for an update.   104. Weather ~ is in the text is not the point, the point, is the CONSTANT changes and difference in stories from dev to dev, mod to mod, AND SAME DEV TO SAME DEV. IF you are going to say ~ Dec. 10th there, then SAY THE SAME THING HERE. The communication from this team is horrific.

    IE

    In a Q&A Overlord was asked if the damage HE was doing was going to be changed in the next build of the patch.

    He responded a resounding no, nothing will be changed with HE, we like how the new systems is working.

    Not more then Thirty minutes later the official notes for build 2 get released, and what is on the 5th or 6th line? A change to the effectiveness of HE from build 1.

    I ask this because many matches I have played at mid to high tier seam to have far more HE use then AP use. Seeing the tracers wiz by, I see allot more yellow then I do white. So it that the reasoning, to get people to use AP more?

And like you said, it doesn't matter that he put a damm "~" or not, the information is more detailed. The releases of patches get changed all the time, the threads die down so of course we are going to ask non related questions in another blog because the old one is no longer monitored. But to try and diss me because I ask the same question 2 weeks later is BS. Here we are Dec 7 and more changes keep coming. Arty getting less credits, buffs and nerfs, horns no horns.     So the game has specifically been made so once you reach tier 8 and above, it's much harder to earn money to get even further (i.g. buy a tier 9 tank), leaving you the option of either buying a tier 5 tank to make money again or get a premium account for the increase in credits (and exp) earned?

    Seems like a subtle way to increase profits for the people who work for wargaming.net (No offense, I know you need to get paid as well.) ;)

    Just asking if they really set the credit gain rate with this in mind...

    Yes, they probably did but there are more reasons then just to make money. First though, as you well know they are not a charitable organization, the companies goal is to make money. So be happy that we can play at all with out paying. That said tier 8-10 will either need a money maker at tier 5, or you will need to pay to get premium (ok choice) or for a premium tier 8 tank (far more gain over long term then premium).

    But the drop in credits at higher tiers is also a way to help regulate and prevent people from exclusively playing their tier 9/10 tanks. It was a way to get people into premiums for sure, but also a way to make sure tier 4-6 have experienced players in the ranks so that new players can get into semi fair games with out the risk of them being the only 5/6 in a tier 8 fight.

    PzKpfw V Panther:
    - Ammo Rack Hit points +20%.

    The Russian changelog states that it will get _minus_ 20% ammo rack hp, making it more receptive to criticals.
    So what's the correct one?

    A: Actually the logic is quite the opposite, the more detailed hitboxes require new HE mechanics. Since the new 16-group hitboxes usually feature new weakspots especially vulnerable to any HE-bugs of the old mechanics when excessive damage is inflicted.

    cause what i understand from all this is that 7.0 is critical for the release of the French, because u dont want the servers to overload when old players come back to play with them.

    As a Christmas present, can we maybe get you to take a little peek at the 85mm D-5T-85BM? Right now it is a bit lacking in stopping power, specifically psychological deterrant(which may not seem like a big deal, but it is when you're a support tank that's trying to delay a flank from collapsing) Maybe change the RoF from 13(with vents and rammer) to 12(with etc) and push the damage from 165 to 180?

    Q: Will the small 88 be reworked in the future? The Dmg is ok, but the Penetration is a bad joke (132)and the major disadvantage of JagdPz IV, VK 3002DB etc.
    U get even higher Penetration with the 85 sovjet gun of the same tier (144). So an increase of _at least_ that niveau would be good.

    220 damage old RoF -> 1941 dpm
    240 new RoF -> 1920 dpm

    While i know dpm is only effective when tanks shooting each other at the open without cover, still i think the dpm/Rof need fine tooning.

    Like with 7.4 sec reload it would be 1946 dpm.

    88 dont need further dpm nerf it needs buff! so 7.4 sec reload plz.

    I see that u increased the thickness of the Stug III to the correct value. Im assuming this was overlooked by mistake. Is the model represented in the game a late F model/G model Stug? And if it is, shouldnt the ammo capacity be increased from 44 rounds to 54 rounds for the 7,5 cm StuK 40 L/43, to be historicaly correct?

    It penetrates their tracks from the front very, very well. Then drive to the their side and shoot them, where you can also penetrate easily. Use better tactics instead of asking for a tank to be nerfed or your gun to be buffed.

    Yeah, and look at my other most played tank... M6A2E1. And guess what: I play them for the credit bonus we get.. it finances the other, more fun tanks like IS-4, IS-7, Tiger II, etc.... As a veteran T-59 player, I can tell you they have serious weaknesses. If I don't play it just right, I am dead as fast as can be. Sometimes I get impatient and rush in. 30 seconds later, I am getting up to get a drink while battle finishes without me.

  155. Everyone here that is taking their misplaced childish anger on out Overlord needs to calm the f' down!

    It is not the fault of Overlord these changes are being put into place. We have seen where WG has put into place something and the community has complained enough to get it changed.

    I have a M12 and while it sucks that all arty are going to make less money it will help in balancing arty which I personally feel is for the best. Time and time again I have been put into matches with too many arty and that game is just not fun. I feel the game should be hard cap arty to a max of 3 per side.

    A lot of people feel that because they are doing this it will make it harder for people to earn money...well if you look through all of these posts you will see that if you don't want to pay for premium then just drive some of the tanks that earn credits.

    Some people may leave because of this change...yet some people also said they would leave if they didn't change the voices in the tank back. Truth is people will freak out for the sake of freaking out.

    I'm sorry but I love this game and while yes it is free to play I have no problem paying a little money here and there to have Premium so that I can enjoy the game as I like. If you don't or have never had Premium then suck it up because YOU DON'T HAVE TO PAY, NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO GIVE THEM MONEY. There are plenty of other games out there that you can play for free and if this one rubs you the wrong way in which they are handling the balancing then leave.

    @Overlord, I think your doing a great job. I know that by being here and doing this blog you will get yelled at because people love to shoot the messanger and that will never be avoided. Just remember to ignore the personal attacks, all that is, is just misplaced nerd rage. :)

    also to those who like to complain: no game free or paid will be exactly like you want since you havent made the game. WOT is only at version 0.67 right now and god this game got already a lot of content and yet the devs have promissed to bring us more so why cry?

  159. @tursoke: as stated already, alfa damage has increased so actualy it is better.

    I dont know how about you but i dont stand there for one minute not moving while firing at the enemy. So what matters if you come out of cover and fire is the damage your tank does, not so much the time you have to wait in cover to come out again.

  161. I have heard that the gun of E-100 will be changed a bit and it would have more accuracy in this patch. But I cannot see it in the changelist. What happened? Isn't the gun's accuracy going to proved a bit? Please answer... :)

    And now serious. I am earning credits to play with my X and IX tiers with V and VII tier tanks so I don't care about your problems with Type. And in my opinion Type is huge annoyance for people who grind their V-VII tier tanks and matchmaking of this tanks should be changed.

    I played with Type on test server. Mega easy to play, mega easy to get multpile kills. Best premium tank ever, so don't cry.

  168. I really hope the camouflage will be improved A LOT!!
    As it is now it just plain sucks big time. Some say it's like realitity, well newsflash IT ISN'T.
    Tanks just disappearing in the open field, nothing in between.
    or even... 15-50m away just partially behind a rock or bush aren't visible until they do something. like oneshotting you when moving.
    Trully this is not like reality. Because, for example, when you walk towards a corner from a house, closeby or from a distant (10-500m+ away).
    You will allways see a part of a car or in this case tank.
    Anyway, when you have 500m visibility you should allways see a stationary tank in the open or even partially. if you hit/miss it when shooting, well that's a other story.

    and nerving bonus and income from artillery?
    wtf?
    Also better change the current worthless matchmaking system.


    I have a premium account, but if it keeps going this way...i'm seriously thinking about not expanding my account for this shit.
    So i probably will never get a high(er) end tank/arti/TD or somewhere end 2014 or later when i keep playing.

    A: Only difference is the closed roof. better protection against artillery hits from above. That's all.
    Just skip it, like i do, when you want the next tier asap. Which hopefully will be better against tanks. (But probably not as it is now. KV kills slugger in 1-2 shots, slugger hits KV 6+ times in the side/weakspots almost no dmg, not to speak when you stay face to face with a T29/IS/IS3/IS4 or similar other tank. you are fckd. aka deadmeat.)

    they want you to play lower level vehicles to get money or to buy a premium one... and/or a premium account.

    this game already changed a while ago to a wantgold game. playing a T9 or T10 vehicle (and now also a high tier arti, starting from tier 6) isn't playable without premium account and a premium tank.
    They want money money and even more money. /moneysign in eyes.

    i think he doesn't want to pay lowlevel vehicles anymore like most of us.

    lowlevel tanks are ok, but the matchmaking for them still sucks. 4 tiers? make it 3 tiers max. way better playability and more survivability or chance to do (at least) some damage (to a higher lvl tank or any tank before killed) for the lowest tiers in a match.

  178. Overlord, i have a bug: my crew's abilities (repair, hide) stopped and stay on 4% (one other 38%, other 56%) since 1 weak, but the main crew level is growing. i think this is a bug. will be fix this in 7.0?

    It is only possible to improve your secondary crew skills (like repaird and camouflage) if your primary crew skill is at 100%. So nope, no bug.

  180. Patch 7.1 will see the German Tanks superiority in view range in tier 7 and 8 just going down SHIT HOLE across the range.
    In tier 7: Both Tiger has 420m VR
    - Panther V 430m VR
    ...and T20 has 440m VR (*WTF a T20 shorty has more view range?).
    As well as in tier 8 - Both T44 and Pershing also getting VR buffs and matching the German counterpart. Now any tanks can snipe like a German tank.
    Not only that, the already fucking weak ammo racks in German tanks just got "Better". That's right, give me more Ammo rack Damage plz. And other Nations got buffed.

    This is seriously pissing me off.

  185. Overlord: I know it is a bit off topic, but wth. I am really happy the dev is working on Americans Heavy, but is there any plan for T32 upgrade/buff? I try all 7.0 test, and in those test, T32 is totally useless, the 105mm is not powerful enough to hurt same tier tanks.(same go for the VK4502) That 25-30 extra penetration make a huge different. Anyway, really hope dev will work on balancing out all the tanks.

    Panther is crapy without any nerfing, Panther2 was good, but now it will be blow up each second battle. viewing range was better because this tanks are bigger than other nations, now it's gone.
    you buff T44, new engine, new gun, more HP for ammo rack, better agility, why? for example Panther is unagile, slow, haven't akceleration. now you nerf him -20%HP for ammo rack, so it will be blow each time. I don't believe, that there was 40% difference between germany and russians tanks in ammo rack HP.
    buffing IS7? why? it is best agile and fastest T10 tank, now will be unpenetrable by most of tanks in WOT.
    follow this way and all people will play only russians, because they will OP again :(.

    did you play it? Panther is only sniper tank, on close combat is totaly useless. Panther 2 was good, but now it will have rebalanced cannon, what will have less DPM, viewing range was reduced, but it stay biggest tank, so you are still easy target. and if you have 100 or 120 front armor haven't any depend, because it is tier 8 and all tanks from tier 5 can penetrate you without any problem

    First question, how you try all 4 test? If you did, you should notice the new armor groups, hitbox were changed. After the change, any gun with penetration lower than 225 have hard time penetrating KT and IS3(Both T32 and 4502A). you may think that 20-30 penetration may make little different, but it make a huge different. That is the difference between playable and non-playable. I am not even talking about fighting higher tier, just the same tier TII and IS3. You said 105 is on pair with TII and IS3 right? I want to ask in what area? 105 have lowest accuracy, Penetration and same level damage as TII and 4502A. How is that on pair?

    I believe lots of users would like to know this...

    Have you ever thought about a Pay&Tank premium account?
    Like most of people on earth I do have a life, and I cannot spend 23h a day to grind my tanks to higher tier when I pay for a premium account!

    Why can't you introduce a more expensive version (or keep the prices as they are for P&T account, and lower them for standard) where your premium account time only is used up when you actually PLAY!
    You'd be surprised how many people would easily buy this feature and not get frustrated when playing...
    So far, the current pricing strategy and the way they run has only put me off from spending a single penny on the premium account... (well, apart from the boxed version which worked out as the best price-to-gold ratio and made sense).
    A reply would be appreciated.

    I've played T32, IS3, and 4502A. (though not the 7.0 versions) 25cm pen difference is huge, no doubt about that. Ihave said that T32 is on par, not the 105. Im trying to compare whole tanks not just the gun, which sure for hvy is most important. Actualy my best xp/kill game was in T32 and we did somehow fit each other. I like the tanks to be different for different playstyles/roles. And except for 4502A which is a bit behind, I think that T8 hvys are one of the better ballanced lines.

    @ forum post, agree that accuracy should be better.

    Frontal hemisphere was buffed, but turret's roof and side armor nerfed. There some whine on RU about oneshoot IS-7 - by tanks from 11 or 10 o'clock and by SU-8(!).

    I think, you've noticed line concerning decreasing ROF, but overlooked line about increasing alpha-damage...

  196. Is spaced armor an artificial introduced explanation to 0 hp penetrations? Like "We hit them hard, but we just dinged them anyway..." or is this an issue you are adressing seperately?

    Also when HE gets more realistic how about a more realistic matchmaking preventing smaller tanks from getting tiered in battles mainly against tanks 3-4 tiers higher?
