Look to the Future: First US-based Map

Glad to present you the screenshots featuring tiny US town surrounded by prairies.

The map has not been scheduled for any particular update yet. The release date will be specified later.

  3. You need to sort out arty in this game, 7 arty per side just ruins it, especially when they so overpowered. They are ruining this game. Either that, or rename to World of Artillery.

  4. I know we don't know starting points yet, but judging from the map layout, isn't city in the south a little bit too close to possible spawn of one of the teams ? (well, unless they spawn at top left and bottom right corners of the map that is).

  9. That's a good question, Mikk36. I can't place any of them. Only thing I can come up with is that the map shot is a different build than the one the ground shots were taken from. I spent five minutes trying to place the flag in that first shot by comparing buildings, as I'm curious where they'll place the start points. Very confusing.

    Large, flat and desolate grassplains would imply the midwest. Cyprus trees and a large lake and rivers... but with two very large and sophisticated bridges reaching over rivers that could easily be circumnavigated by a road. Yet by a very tiny town...

    Must be Oklahoma.

  11. The US news article (http://game.worldoftanks.com/news/general_news/lively-life-ox-map) says this is scheduled for Q1-Q2 2012, but the Release Plan for 2011-2012 has North American maps planned for Q4 2011.
    Which is it?

  14. I've noticed a trend in the spawn locations of new maps where arty, mediums and lights spawn in the open field (Westfield and Siegfried Line). Will it continue with this and subsequent maps?

  18. Story, huh? More like NAZI actually run away from USSR to USA, and while Americans are incapable to get rid of them because they are already almost destroyed by Japan, USSR have come to help them.

  20. If will be added new map on each patch, will be there some removing? For example, malinovka hate most of players, so should be, that will be removed from some next patch? Or some map filtering?

  21. LOL...OK, I'm embarrassed to say so, but this just barely dawned on me:

    There were no WWII tank battles fought on American soil. In fact there have NEVER been tank battles on American soil.

    So why are there going to be maps based on American-style towns and terrain?

    This is supposed to be a tank game which uses historically correct tanks from "around" the time when WWII occurred. Up until this map, all the map locations/settings/styles were believable. Maps that depict US settings just don't belong in this game.

    It seems that one minute you developers are trying to create something that is historically and technically accurate and the next minute you are just letting your imaginations run wild. This all seems a bit random to me. I would rather see historically correct maps of locations in Europe and Russia than maps of the US. It just seems to add an element of fantasy into the game which compromises it's integrity. I mean, if you have fantasy locations to fight in, why not have fantasy tanks too? 250-ton space tanks sporting rail guns would be pretty kick-ass!!! They could use Loltraktors for ammunition. Come here little Maus!!! I'm going to launch this Loltraktor through you and the other 10 tanks lined up behind you!!! Muahahahahahaha!!!

    Now, that being said, I do think that the quality of the map looks fantastic. I like having a large variety of maps to play. I just feel like it would have been smarter to stick to historically correct locations for this game.

  25. For now we are glad to introduce the new map Life Ox, which is going to be implemented with one of the updates in Q1-Q2 2012

    i remember a story long ago... about 1 map each month... looks like some people forgot about it

    also why do we need to make a blog to ask here?

Overlord, please answear me this question: to get IS4 as tier X and the obj 252 and an extra garage slot we have to have is4 in garage, but ifwe sell the is4 and rebuy it do we still get the garage slot and the tier 9 tank? Or not? This also concerns the other tanks such as kv and kv3, please tell answear this

  32. Overlord, any word about those weird 1% hits that are happening quiet often since the last patch? Is this a bug or is it a feature?

    i´m talking about situations when a tank should be destroyed but somehow survives the hit with 1 to 50 Hitpoints (around 1% of its full hp). this is extremely annoying.

  33. Overlord, Concerning the M103, IRL it had 130/52/38 armor on the hull.
    Do you not think this prove to be a huge and unfair disadvantage against HE shells? And do you think the devs will keep the realistic stats or buff them to acceptable levels

  34. A lot of the problem with the US heavies is that in real life, if a shell ever penned a tank, that target was destroyed. Imagine if you ever took damage from AP, that your tank exploded.

    Tanks are their guns, basically. If real life worked the way it does in WoT, main battle tanks would never have taken over. You can see why American designers didn't really care about side and rear armor when engagements usually happened kilometers apart to begin with. What mattered was your ability to withstand a frontal assault and the penetration value of your gun.

    T54 is most agile tank with brutal low profile, his last gun is nice too. What do you want to improve?! Try play with panther for example. Slow, big and don't know, what agility is. Panther2 has better speed, but still isn't agile at all, big like HT. Russian mediums are much more better for closing combat

    T95 = slow !but! very strong
    obj. = weak front armor !but! very strong gun
    Stug E-100 = Bad rotation but strong gun????

  41. When did America have tank battles ? I think a lot of us likes the idea of somewhat real tanks and real areas of battle.

    No americans are going to play the game just because you do maps that vaguely resemble american fields.

    Also enough with the map that forces people into 1-3 differnt choke-holes. Focus instead on larger open area maps please.

    These maps are being implemented for clan wars... not just for random battles... Overlord and the wargaming crew aren't sitting doing nothing all the time. They work and work hard. They have a large range of differences in maps so that there are maps that fit everyone's play style.

    I had a question regarding Clan Wars to an extent.

    When will the mercenaries feature come out? Also Do we have an ETA on 7.0 at this point?

    I am very anxious to see what a difference clan wars will take on during all these changes. Its actually rather exciting.

    Do you have any information regarding the transfer of gold as well? Like lets say One clan employs another clan to cause chaos from another end of their targets territory. This could even be done on a singular level!

  45. Only problem i can see with these maps is they're all very very flat looking, if there's not enough cover then this could turn into campanovia 2.0, with everyone forced to go via the lake :/

I recommend airfield maps: a big sprawling WWII aerodrome complete with hangers large enough to hide inside, aircraft dispersal area with unserviceable kites strewn about, control towers, concrete pens etc to play hide-and-seek around and expansive runways to traverse under fire. That'd be the life!
