  5. Is this also for normal Tiger not P?

    ReplyDelete
  6. @Marvin
Correct, the Tiger (P) did not take part in the actual battle so not part of the promotion.

  7. Overlord show us screenshots of the T110!

  8. Seriously good special. Especially seeing it will last an entire weekend. Big + for that.

But Overlord, can you please answer this question for me. In the past you promised the specials would be announced well in advance. On the EU site we only heard about it today while the special starts in 2 days. And again we don't get any information apart from that there will be a special, while this information has been available on the NA site since monday.

Q: Why aren't we getting the info that is clearly already available elsewhere on the EU site? What is the point of keeping us in the dark like this? Why should i frequent an EU site if the information i'm looking for is available on the NA part of the site?

Again, great special (keep them comming) and thank you for making them for us. But this information gap is seriously starting to piss me off.

  16. In order to speed up the development of VK 4501 (P), components of VK 3001 (P) were modified and used. The suspension was modified version of the suspension used in the VK 3001 (P) prototype. It was made up of six road-wheels and lacked return rollers. Tracks had 109 links per side and were 640mm wide with track surface contact of 4175mm (4.175m). Tiger (P) was powered by two (air-cooled) Porsche Typ 101/1 engines mounted in the rear part of the hull. Gasoline engines drove electrical generators, which drove two electric motors, which provided power to the tracks.Gasoline engines were produced with defects and were repaired but remained unreliable, while electric system used copper, which was a critical war material. Drive sprocket was in the rear instead of the standard location at the front. Electric transmission system was used similar to that of the VK 3001 (P). Overall gasoline-electric power/drive system with which many problems were encountered (such as engine fire) was utilized. Its power/weight distribution limited its cross-country performance and during trials, VK 4501 (P) prototype was often bogged down (especially in the soft ground) and had to be towed away by recovery vehicles.

From left to right. Albert Speer, Ferdinand Porsche and Tiger (P) prototype vehicle. Both, Henschel and Porsche’s prototypes arrived to a station near Rastenburg on April 19th of 1942 and then traveled 11km to Rastenburg, while constantly breaking down.On April 20th of 1942 at 11:00am, both Porsche and Henschel prototypes were presented to Adolf Hitler (on his birthday) in Wolfschanze (Rastenburg), East Prussia. Tests were scheduled for July and preliminary tests proved that the Tiger (P)’s design was far from being perfect and modifications were made, but none of the technical problems were fully solved from the lack time. Both VK 4501 (P) and VK 4501 (H) were armed with powerful 88mm KwK 36 L/56 gun, developed from 88mm Flak 36 L/56 gun. Originally, Krupp designed and produced the turret for Porsche’s VK 4501, but then it was modified and used by Henschel’s VK 4501. The first eight turrets produced had lower sides and a flat roof with raised centre section to allow the gun to be depressed through larger arc.

Tiger (P) had its turret mounted forward, what also made the operating in enclosed areas dangerous. In July of 1942, both prototypes were put to the extensive tests at the tank school in Berka, Germany. During the tests, Porsche’s VK 4501 (P) was a failure, while Henschel’s VK 4501 (H) was a great success. Main failure of Porsche’s design laid in its advanced power and drive system, which was prone to breakdowns and required continuous maintenance. Also Tiger (P) was longer than its competitor, what made it less maneuverable. Porsche also provided possibility to arm Tiger (P) in future with 150mm KwK L/37or 100mm L/70 gun, but it was never realized. There were also plans to utilize 88mm L/100 gun but they were also never realized.

    Henschel wins the contract

In July of 1942, Henschel Tiger - VK 4501 (H) was approved and went into production. Only five Tiger (P) were fully completed in July of 1942 by Nibelungenwerke with armored parts supplied by Krupp, before the production was stopped in August of 1942 (chassis number 150001-150010). Even before the rejection of Tiger(P)’s design, production began on 90 pre-production VK4501 (P) chassis and continued into early September of 1942. It was decided to equip two sPzAbts (including sPzAbt 501) destined for North Africa with Tiger(P)s. This decision was made simply because of the stage of development and the fact that Tiger (P)’s engines were air-cooled. Once again unresolved problem of technical unreliability led to the cancellation of the production

    P wasn't involved at all!

  17. With the French tanks apparently coming at the end of December (likely, maybe next year), when will we get some more info on them? We've barely had any information on them at all, other than they'll exist, and that some of them will have those unique loaders.

Models are done? Screenshots? Maybe some tier information?

    ReplyDelete
  18. Geezuz, people...how insulting can you get? Asking about french tanks, patches and waht not? this is about the battle of Moscow. You know, it's about a special gift you can enjoy.

This gets infuriating at some point...

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't care about the Battle of Moscow. And many people have already progressed past those tanks on the list, making the "gift" completely pointless. Also, it's just copied/pasted information from the news feed.

He can answer a couple questions. He'll cope, somehow.

  20. As far as i know stugIII participated in this operation. And why he is not involved in this?

  22. You are really terrible guys. Whine, whine whine... Now are those tanks, next time there will be others. And no, not all people progressed past those tanks. For example I have been thinking about researching Tiger (P) but I haven't even had credits for rebuying VK 3001 (P). Now I will be able to buy VK and I hope to research and buy Tiger during event.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Could be Panzer 3/4 this time, instead of Panzer 4 again...

    ReplyDelete
  24. Nice one. I've been on the fence about WoT for a while (due to general burnout really) and the specials keep me paying for premium as they are good fun. I'll finally try out the KV this weekend!

Thanks for making it all weekend long. Those of us with jobs/weekday commitments appreciate that.

Also a great idea to disable anonymous posting. It was driving me crazy! Don't know how you stayed patient all that time Overlord. Fair play to you!

  25. Well...ive already got the IS and the Tiger P but mabye i can grind the xp needed to get to the IS 3 and then get the tiger unlocked and mabye get to the next tank:P GJ keep up the good work.

  26. Q: overload, do you choose the tanks for the specials based on historical references or more random??
I like the historical tanks, but it would been nice to se other tanks like vk3002 on a special once.
And why only tier 5-7 tanks on specials?
PzKfw III was present on most historical battels but havent been on a special if i remeber correctly.(it is tier 4 though)

    ReplyDelete
  27. Yeah, nice special. But as often, this comes too spontaneous for me as I'm not at home this weekend. :( 3 straigt specials missed...grml.

The announcement was too late, two days before the start? One week before should be possible, isn't it?

  28. Q: "PAGE NOT FOUND" when selecting the link in "for US times check the website".

    A: Fixed the link.

  29. Q: do you choose the tanks for the specials based on historical references or more random??

A: Mostly based on historical data, though here we don't stick to 100% accuracy.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Can I get a quick clarification here? My friends seem to think garage slots are also 50% off, going for 150 gold, during the weekend. Is this true or false?

    ReplyDelete
  31. RAGE!

Overlord. Matchmaking is fucked right now. For Tier 8 it is. Playing lower Tiers with Tier 8 tanks is crazy. Every 2nd match one team has at least 1 more Tier 8 than the other. Just had a battle with two "Type 59" for "IS" and "Tiger". The worst was 4 Tier 8 matched up against 4 Tier 7.
I don't know if it's the fault of the chinese tank, but it seems to happen more frequently when one of them is in the battle.

Shall I start making screenshots and send them to support, or this is a known issue and going to be fixed, or is this working as intended?

    ReplyDelete
  32. If your complaint has anything to do with the matchmaker matrix (the mix of tiers within a given battle) then forget it. It is working as intended to have tier 4 lights/spgs and all tier 5 vehicles on up mix it up with tier 8 tanks occasionally.

If your complaint is unbalanced teams, then yeah I'd say screenshots might be helpful. Make sure you add up the tiers on each side to see how unbalanced the battle really is though, before you submit it.

  34. Why the rus community managers are not announced this event at own site? Is this historical event is only for EU/US servers?

    ReplyDelete
  35. I think now they made it so a 7 heavy with tigers weak gun is evenly matched with an 8 med. the team with 8s though then gets a few useless 4 or 5s. I think its more of 'mixing things up' rather than providing every player an equal opportunity

    ReplyDelete
  36. I would assume they chose Tigger P because the other Tiger just had a special, and 3001P so people could grind toward it if they do not have it.
100% historical accuracy in specials is not that important IMHO.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Awesome, love these they keep you motivated and give the player-consumer a perk.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I anticipated garage slot half prize much, yet it failed to come. During that weekend I was waiting for them to cost 150 gold, but it always was 300.
