  2. gpg...
i remember them being involved in development of Supreme commander very well... the first title was great!

Maybe you think about some sort of Mechbot-f2p? (afaik i remember it was even considered when you thought about the initial game to create)

    2. mark my words

GPG is a company that develops games tailored to a western audience, US and EU
the people who played their games are not some mindless kids, these people, including me won't be happy at all if WG suddenly involves themselves in screwing with the IPs

      Delete
    3. Easy, easy.

No screwing at all - only legendary games tailored for ... global market.

    4. overlord, I look at this acquisition with most suspicion since WG recently stated they do not want themselves involved in RTS games

I sincerely do not want to see a free2play MMORTS from SupCom or any other IPs own by GpG

people that are interested in GpG future project and already released games look at this acquisition the same way
some don't even know who/what WarGaming is; when they hear they develop F2P games, well .. you get the point

    5. Is it a genre or distribution model preference, cause you didn't make yourself clear enough.

    6. it's actually both
f2p mmo rtses failed quite a lot in recent years, most recent one was the failed attempt from petroglyph studios

    7. Not sure if there is a place for an online RTS game that would appeal to mass audience. MMOFPS, MMOTPS, MMORPG, dota-like game.

    8. NavyField comes in mind, with upcoming NF2 just short of it's Open BETA debut

  5. The new game will be called WOWW - World of Wild West, so it will be like WOW but instead of humans, elfs and orcs, there will be pioneers, Indians and Mexicans.

    1. Oh, and to keep it better suited to new trends, higher levels will be in the steampunk-like world.

    2. More seriously as old fan of first games from Total War Series I would have nothing against WG coming back to its roots - http://www.dbaol.com/

Some antiquity or medieval MMO with high realism

    3. Witcher online doesn't sound bad at all still i have to say I miss a game like Order of War...but with some twists in gameplay like features that 1C featured in Men Of War....which i have to say that tank warfare feels a bit more realistic there than in wot(to some extent).Oh and if you guys are so big on acquiring stuff now could you aquire 1 little loved thing by gamers? Homeworld IP and buy teamPixel to do the job.I mean with WG experience in RTS and TBS(2 success games)+ a team with ambition and desire made of modders(teamPixel) and Homeworld IP i think you guys would kick even EA's fat posterior. :P cheers!

    4. Well, as a Pole I should support that idea. But Witcher as MMO means that almost all players would be Geralts, with a few Yeneffers and Ciris ;). And Witcher world is quite similar to WoW's world and dozens of fantasy genre games.

But game World of Knights, where you start as tier I peasent with some stick and you can finish as some highly proffesional renaissance warrior in tier X? ;) In nation tree you have heavy cavalry line, light melee cavalry line, ranged cavalry line, melee infantry line (well there can be even 2 lines - one with spears/halaberds and second with close combat weapons - swords, axes, maces), and ranged infantry line starting from sling, going through bow, longbow/composit bow, crossbows, handgun and ending on some fancy arquebuse.

Or classical WoW-like MMO but in faithfully recreated medieval world with social classes, professions, religions, princedoms, kingdoms.

It is easy to have nice ideas. Just give me some millions for hiring good dev team and I can make great games ;)

    5. New day and new idea for World of Knights :) Players do not command one warrior but units of warriors (for example 40 pikemen, 10 knights, 20 mounted archers). So 15 players make whole army composed from 15 units (for example from 150-600 warriors). As in WoT they have to cooperate to win. There can be even two versions (modes) World of Knigths - Heroes - you play with one warrior and World of Knigths - Strategy (or Commanders), where you play with unit. Yeah, I definitely need that millions :)

  6. So you can bring GPG.net online again, that we can play supreme commander over it again!

  7. GPG...so we will see more Dungeon Siege-ish games? geesh i would like to express my ideeas(maybe I'm too much of a dreamer) to a dev/smth from WG(atm one of the 4 dev companies that i love)...but oh well

  8. Very sad news . Supreme Commander was a great RTS title by GPG and i am not sure if WG can execute or develop games in same level of quality and depth .

I still have some hopes in RTS because Blizzard is still alive and developing their glorious StarCraft series .

WG is so dangerous to the straight gaming world , Is the next generation of PC gaming would be completely casual and shallow because of this greediness ? (f.ex Apple's products)

    1. sadly but true, you are
and a lot of other companies out there that trade quality over for consumerism

games like TA will never see the light of day because of this

      Delete
    2. We have had our indie times developing games for a niche audience (eg Massive Assault), now it's time for mass products.

      Delete
    3. you mean products for the masses ;)

      Delete
    4. F2P, games as service, mass appeal are the today's trend. Would be stupid to deny that.

      Delete
    5. FTP can be combined with strategic or tactical depth and high gaming quality . But WG tries to do hundred casual projects instead of one ideal project .. And that's not the way Blizzard and GPG worked till today .

      Delete
    6. F.EX , Blizzard developed their glorious SC2 Wings of Liberty many years from 1998 to 2010 , But the final release was so outstanding and so exciting ! I just can't forget it . I guess if WG will continue with this style of developing many projects at time , they will never reach the same level of prestige like Blizzard and other companies got at single release as DICE CryTek and Blizzard did .

Blizzard and other companies also did not got so many bad critics as WG got .. I don't know , Maybe WG is just too "Industrial" than "Talented" in the game development ? , That's how it seems to me . Game is not only an product or consumer's good , It is also an artistic creation .

Just take a look at WoT and all other WG's games , They aren't bad , They have some level of quality and balance , well executed and maintained . But they got less of Historical accurateness and it feels like a random tank salad game . I don't know , It does not have any interesting\exciting campaigns like in many other online titles (F.EX World of Warcraft,The secret world) and it also does not stand in communities' demands .. The chat is full of rage every time , The gaming style is very the same and have poor strategic depth compared to other WW2 strategic\tactical games like Men-of-War .. and blablabla ..

In short , The game is an gray industrial product and it feels more like sport than a video game .

    7. quote: "F2P, games as service, mass appeal are the today's trend. Would be stupid to deny that."

this is why AAA retail games don't see
geee! but wait .. they do sell, quite a lot actually

no overlord, WG does game(s) for every moron to understand
this is why WoT was conceptually similar to CounterStrike, because every dumb kid can play CS, but put them in front of SupCom and suddenly their brains melt

I'd love to see another SupCom or Men of War .. but will never happen, at least not form WG

    8. AAA retail - don't make me laugh pretty please. It's oligarchic business with 8-9-digit budgets and 3+ years of development. Not our type of model

  9. Chris Taylor on board? I played sooo many hours of Total Annihilation. A sci fi slant on a WoT style game? I do have friends who really want a giant spider robot game in the WoT style.

  10. World of knights is a really good idea or world of heroes. Like wot that was the first mmo game of his style and growed rapidly so and world of knights , a world of medieval warfare rpg style with action starting as low lvl sergeant and go to higher levels knights , chivalry knights , heroes leaders

  11. GPG made some hits in their lifetme, and DungeonSiege 1 and 2 were pretty decent... unfortubately Obsidian took over the franchise and turned it into a messy crap. Supreme Commander was a great continuation of the spirit left after Total Anihilation, but companies globaly are killing RTS genre with TO MANY social and RPG elements ... so many "strategy" games turned out to be Sims with facebook mentality and a bit of tactical pretending instead of real resource management, tech development, and many stages of upgrades, that what I would really like to see is some sort of World Of "RTS-ness".

What is tricky, and nobody managed to do is keeping all the basebuilding and researching in the game while it is a decent RTS. I guessbwhat makes open world mmos so popular is constant development of Your character, and in this meaning such a game would have to be tuned from traditional "mining" to scavenging and gathering from scattered sources all around the game world.

Gas Powered Games have nice amount of experience that would be a nice base to start with, and with WGs experience in terms of mmo games it could be a good mix to make MMORTS work. That is what I woul like to see in the World Of universe.

I don't know ... maybe make it somehow mixed with WoT global CW map to make Your games interact in at least smal manner.

  12. F yeah! I love GPG, Supreme Commander is one of my favourite games. Please continue the series as normal commercial games, not F2P ones. WoT, WoWp and WoB are enough Free-to-Play

    ReplyDelete
  13. Will Wargaming try to get back the GPG team together again?
Is there any chance to make something like the first Supreme Commander style game? For current hardware?:)

  14. why no one mention world of submarine? i will love to torpedo other sub

  15. Supreme Commander 3 please! But more like the first SC, not the second, which was 'meh-too-easy-I'm-a-hardcore' xd

  16. This (Wildman) concept seemed fresh and art interesting , Hope with funding and fine tuning think it could be a very nice game . I was following this on the kick starter updates ..

  17. in oine hand, TA and SC where awesome, then they dropped the ball hard on SC2 (my borhter played it, i saw it on hsi PC, couldn't be bothered with the watered down and resource model changes).
With WG dev cycle and releases.. i don't know what to expect, i'll stay skeptical on wheter or not this will be a good thing until a see what comes out(which will probably take years).

And ot would be interesting if you come up witha supreme commander RTS based on Wo*, with the exact same rules as each game so you can have "experimentals being the maus, every unit has a +-25% chance of bouncing/dmg spread, all from top down view(like arty now but commanding AI tanks in RL scale :D)
